An overview of the Components section

Your components are the interactive building blocks used to create product interfaces. They can range in complexity from simple components, like buttons, to more complex components, like forms, cards, or even entire page layouts.

WarningBefore you can add a component to DSM, make sure it is saved as a symbol in your original Sketch file.

  • Close📁 Categories, folders, and pages

Within each category are folders and pages.

    • Create pages to organize your components and write up your component documentation.
    • Created folders to add an additional level of hierarchy to group pages.
    • Create component categories at any time by selecting Add Category.
  • Close⚙️ Component-level documentation

From any page, you can click to select a component for additional information on the component-level.

DSM components allow for incredibly robust documentation. In addition to using the standard text editor available for every element in your design system—shown in a customizable tab menu— where you can:

    • View the design
    • Add links
    • Embed web pages
    • Create live components
Tip: If you export icons in your design file as SVG, they become available to download from the Design tab.
