Comment types
When commenting on a prototype, you can choose one of four comment types:
Type | Description |
The pink Comment type makes the comment viewable both within the app and via URL share links. This type is useful for sharing with external viewers.
A Private Comment is only viewable to you and collaborators. External stakeholders are unable to see these comments.
A Note is a comment type that can only be seen by the prototype owner and collaborators on a prototype. External stakeholders and clients are unable to see these comments.
Tour Points let you walk your users through your prototype—even when you’re not there to speak for yourself. |

To choose the comment type for a new comment:
- Click your screen to leave a comment.
- Next to Leave a comment, click the dropdown arrow.
- Click your desired comment type.
- Type your comment and click Send.
To change the comment type for an existing comment:
- Click the desired comment.
- In the top-right corner of the comment window, click the ••• icon.

Mentions
You can notify someone on a prototype or board by using our @mention feature in a comment. Simply type "@" along with their name in your comment or reply. Type “@project” to notify all users—regardless of their respective roles—that have commented or been mentioned.

Alternatively, you can click within the comment field and type "+" to display a list of all connections for the account.
Mentioning new stakeholders
If you need to mention someone who is not a current stakeholder, collaborator, or user, you can add them by opening a comment and typing "@" followed by their email address. That person will then receive an email notification that they have been mentioned in the prototype.
Mentions for Enterprise accounts
If you are a prototype owner or collaborator on an Enterprise account, you can @mention a user in your organization, and that person will become a stakeholder. We will send a comment notification to this user, and they will be able to access the prototype and all the comments via the share link.
Since the user belongs to the organization, they can @mention another user in the organization, and they will be added as stakeholders too.
Within the comment field, you can also type "+" along with an email address to add stakeholders outside your organization. These stakeholders will be able to access the share link and the comments in it. However, unlike members who belong to your organization, these users will only be able to @mention users who are part of the prototype.
