Article summary

The Card smart object includes multiple fields that allow you to organize your ideas and tasks and plan your project.

You can add information to cards manually, like adding a due date or status, or use other smart objects, such as the people and stickers smart objects, to update the card values.

Add a smart object to the canvas

Smart objects are located in the Explore menu.

  1. In the toolbar, select Explore.
  2. Scroll or search to find the object you want.
  3. Drag and drop the object onto the canvas, or select it once to add it in the center.
Tip
On your keyboard, enter / and type the name of any object to find it faster.

You can also create cards from sticky notes:

  1. Select a sticky note in your freehand. You can select multiple sticky notes to create different cards.
  2. In the contextual menu that appears above the note, select Sticky Note image> Card image
The sticky note appears now as a card.

Use cases for cards

Are you planning your sprint or working on prioritizing your ideas for your next project? Use cards to move from ideation to action and structured work. Add all your ideas and tasks to different cards. Then, use the stickers and people smart objects to add story points and assign each card to specific team members.

Once you've set up our integration with Jira, you can also convert your cards into Jira issues, so you don’t have to leave your Freehand canvas.

To add additional structure, use boards or grids to organize and prioritize your cards. You can create columns in your boards for different statuses, such as "to do" or "in progress", or use grids to create a prioritization matrix.

Remember you can save time and effort using kits to work with connected smart objects.
