Hand-drawn Freehand shapes missing

The freehand shapes used to convey a hand-drawn aesthetic.

Why has this style (applied to the shapes on creation) been removed?

Can you add this back in via a toggle for both:

- Entire doc.

- And/or on a 'Frame' by 'Frame' basis.

I don't want perfect, straight edges to my early ideation wire-frames... We all utilize design tools that are capable of this. I also don't want to clutter my desk with pen input tools (iPads/Wacoms) just so I can attain a perceived hand-drawn white-boarding session.

Removing this feature was such a bad regression.

Also, it's still advertised that shapes appear hand-drawn on the Freehand landing page.

Totally agree. The hand-drawn aesthetic is very important. It communicates: don't pay attention to the small details, pay attention to the concept. Really hope this a mistake / bug...else, why call the app Freehand?

I've submitted a ticket, #841970

Invision support confirms "polished shapes" are now a feature of the product, not a bug.

Would love to know the reason for removing it altogether.

Speaking for the whiteboard (Freehand) tool itself there is no differentiation from that of Miro or Figjam.

The only other option to achieve the 'sketchy' look is to use Balsamiq.

However I love the freedom of sketching the boxes myself over dragging in pre-made components. It's really clanky.

Agreed Alex. I suggested to the support representative that Freehand share why this change was made.

Mark Permann adp com and Alex, thanks for the raising this with us. As Valdine mentioned earlier over email, we're making sure the feedback is taken to the right product folks who can revert the feature the way it was.

I'll personally give a headsup to prioritize the same.

Thanks Kannaa! I know evolving products isn't easy especially when you're trying to keep it relatively simple to use. Appreciate the responsiveness & communication.

To reiterate the above regarding needing additional tools when the software doesn't 'sketch' for you.

Here's somebody that NEEDS an iPad to attain a sketched ideation state inside one of your competitor workflows.

When/if you guys revert back to the sketchy shape tools, you are literally solving the below problem so we DON'T need a fancy iPad to achieve this:

(If only the below user new about Freehand hey)!

Kannaa Chilla any update on this?

Currently sketching out and drafting some ideas but I've still got super clean edges to my shapes 😒
