Craft Library no longer a thing?

Hello,

My team has been working on getting assets into DSM to use between designers and developers. I created a style guide in Sketch to upload into DSM as the working style guide for when we make changes, etc.

Additionally, we'd like all the assets from this style guide to be turned into a Craft library so we can pull elements from this library while working on new mock ups (buttons, form fields, colors, etc).

My only issue is that it seems Craft library are just....no longer a thing? I've watched every YouTube video I could find, most from 2016/17, and all of them look completely different than the updated versions of Craft/Sketch I have now.

Back in 2016 we dabbled with making a Craft library to familiarize ourselves with it, but of course I've forgotten how to even start and not having any tutorials just seems baffling.

What am I missing here? How are we supposed to update style guide changes across all teams into DSM without this Craft library?

Here are some follow up screenshots for reference. In videos, most people click the little hexagon icon in the Craft sidebar in Sketch and it opens up what looks like a library. Mine, however, keeps prompting me to use the new plug in, which when I click that, only brings up the upload to DSM stuff.

Hi Kelsey,

Thanks for reaching out today, and I'm sorry for the confusion here! I'll be happy to help with your queries about DSM.

I see that your Enterprise has a mix of Legacy DSM (the older version referenced in your YouTube screenshot), and New DSM (the updated version) libraries at this time.

Currently, you'll only be able to access New DSM libraries via the New DSM plugin in Sketch, but you'll be able to continue accessing Legacy (old) DSM libraries via the original plugin.

As for the New DSM, you can find out more about this here:

With that said, you can certainly import your Legacy DSM libraries over to New DSM. You can find instructions for this here: Importing Legacy DSM to the New DSM

I hope that information addresses your query, but if you have any additional questions, please let me know!

Regards,

Camille

Hi Camille,

We recently upgraded to DSM all together a few weeks/months ago, so I should have the "new DSM."

Old screenshot aside, I would like the ability to upload my Style Guide Sketch file into Sketch (like the Craft Library) so we can drag/drop/etc those elements from the library while working in Sketch. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this with the new DSM. I did all the important stuff and still have no idea how to access it through Sketch.

Hi Kelsey,

When adding your Sketch file to a New DSM library via the Craft plugin within Sketch, this will also create add the DSM's elements to a shared library within Sketch.

You can find more information on this process here:

You might also find the DSM courses on InVIsion Learn helpful: InVision Learn Catalog: DSM

I hope this information is helpful, Kelsey!

Best,
Raynor
