Is there an InVision "non-cloud?" And what's with this UI?

Hi all.

One of our designers uses InVision, so he sent a link to a mock-up. We then started discussing it over a chat.

This was painful, because the InVision UI is apparently broken. He kept referring to arrows that didn't exist, for example. And much of the work he did was hidden, again because of defective UI. This is what the Web interface looks like. What's the story here?

Hi Oscar,

Sorry to hear you're having some troubles navigating a share link!

We'd like to gather some additional details to assist in troubleshooting this further. Would it be possible to provide the following:

  • What browser and operating system are you using? You can get these details by going to http://www.whatsmybrowser.org/, clicking “Copy”, and pasting the link it gives you here.
  • Does this behavior continue if you access your projects in an incognito window? How about with an alternate browser?
  • Do navigational arrows appear on each side of the screen if you hover your mouse over the design?
  • Could you include the affected share link, if you're able to do so publicly?

Once we have those details, we'll be able to investigate further into this issue for you.

Thanks,

Camille

Thanks for the reply. This is Safari 14.1.1 under Mac OS 11.4.

I'm not familiar with the "incognito" function. Trying with Chrome produced the same result.

Navigational arrows do not appear when rolling over the design with either browser. That wouldn't be a good affordance anyway, because there may be no reason for the recipient to roll over the graphic (it may be a static mockup with no interactivity, and the recipient may know this).

I can't share the page publicly.

Hi Oscar,

Thanks for getting back us with these details!

For some background, there are a few reasons that you may not be able to access navigational features when viewing share link, such as the following:

  • The project owner may have disabled navigational buttons and ability to navigate using the arrow keys
  • There may not be other screens in the share project to navigate to, or were not included in the share link

As for a private/incognito window, this creates temporary browsing session that is isolated from your browser main session and data. These can serve a few purposes, but in this context we use it to rule out issues with corrupted browser data associated with inVision. You can find more information and instructions for these here:

With that said, I’ll be opening a ticket on your behalf with our Support team so that you can share further details privately and they can dig into this further with you internally. Please keep an eye out for an email from one of our Support agents soon.

We'll look forward to assisting you via the ticket.

Best,
Raynor

Thanks for the reply. I'm familiar with private-browsing mode.

  • The project owner may have disabled navigational buttons and ability to navigate using the arrow keys
  • There may not be other screens in the share project to navigate to, or were not included in the share link

Actually, the owner seemed surprised that there were no arrows. And as I mentioned, there are 17 screens in the project. For some reason, that fact is a secret unless you happen to roll over a waffle in the lower-right corner.

Hi Oscar,

Thanks for the follow-up! I created a ticket on your behalf last week so that our Support team can troubleshoot this further with you, and I can see that my colleague Enrique has since sent you a response.

I encourage you to reply to that ticket with the additional details that Enrique has requested, as well as any other updates you'd like to add, and they'll be able to continue troubleshooting this with you.

Thanks, Oscar!

Best,
Raynor
