Is Invision Studio Desktop going away?

Is Invision Desktop app is going to be phased out in favour of pure cloud version of Studio?

The only reason why I chose Studio over Figma was that I can work completely offline which is great as I travel alot and internet isn't always reliable. Is this going to change?

PS: I signed up for the private beta a while ago to figure this out for myself but haven't heard anything back.

Hi Ahmed,

Thanks so much for reaching out to our Community, and thank you so much for your patience while we got to your message.

Regarding the Studio desktop app, while our Product team are currently working hard on the Studio 2.0 Beta, we have no plans to sunset the current Studio desktop app.

Offline mode in Studio 2.0 is not currently supported, but it is something the Product team is are open to considering as they continue to develop the new Studio experience.

Lastly, I can confirm that we have received your request to participate in the Beta, but we have not yet opened our next round of access. We have you on our list as we continue to expand access.

I hope this addresses your queries, but please don’t hesitate to reach out again if you have any other questions. We’re always happy to hear from you and will be glad to help.

Thanks, Ahmed!

Hey there Raynor.

Oooohh, where is the link for the announcement of this supposed Studio 2.0 news? Finally some good news!!

Can you confirm if it's gonna be web based, just like what Ahmed's said. And you certainly didn't denied.

Regarding with beta access, I would love to help, I am a beta tester since 2010s (and is a Studio Beta tester too back then) and I proud myself to be a very detailed, intricate, opinionated feedback giver.

I believe Studio's integrated vision for design tools, including the only design tool to offer Timeline animation until now, deserves to still exist in this world, even if it's already way way behind on the current competition and has grown lots of UI bugs.

Thanks for the note Raynor. In all honesty given the world is heading towards remote, I'm surprised you'd let go of such a massive differentiator you had against Figma with Studio being offline but also able to sync online.

As a remote worker that works across cafes (with varying WiFi reliability) but also travel a lot, Studio keeps me safe in the knowledge I can chip away on design wherever I am without worrying about whether my browser will lose its cache or not properly sync.

I'm all for having a web version... but I am desperately hoping you keep updating Studio offline.

My only frustration with Studio Offline is that it grinds to a halt after a couple dozen boards so I have to keep creating new files to break the one project across. Oh.. and I wish it could be smarter in the way it handles component duplicaiton when I copy a Board into another file which already has the same component (a simple hash check might be an idea - devs will understand what i'm suggesting).

Anyway.. please don't give up on Studio desktop... but if you don't plan to improve its performance or make any further substantial updates, would appreciate the heads up so I can figure out where to move to.
