Rotate element in Freehand

Hi there, I've recently started using Freehand and I can't seem to rotate elements, am I missing something? I'm about to start a new role and would make good use of freehand but not being able to rotate text is limiting. Thanks Dan

Hi Dan,

Thanks for taking the time to write into Community to share your feedback about this.

It's not currently possible to rotate objects within Freehand, but this is something that our Product team is monitoring the interest for.

Hi everyone,

I have the same problem as Dan -  at this moment Freehand is not as "free" as it's supposed to be. Lack of this feature irritates a lot especially when creating custom templates with text. For now I am forced to leave the product until it's fixed and that's a bummer.

PS Honestly I'm surprised that it's not a default feature - other tools allows you that in "free" mode. :(

Cheers
Kamil

Hi Kamil,

Thanks for getting in touch and adding your voice to this!

The ability to rotate elements is not behind a paywall, but rather a potential feature that our Product team are monitoring the interest for as they plan for the future roadmap of InVision.

I can certainly understand the frustration at not having a feature that is important to your workflow, but I see that you already have a ticket linked up to this feature request so rest assured that your feedback and vote have been passed on for consideration.

Thanks so much, Kamil!

Best,
Raynor

Hi,

I would like to add my voice to this issue as well.  I created a stacked bar chart from a set of rectangles and grouped them.  I just wanted to rotate the chart and to my surprise, that was not possible.  Rotating an object is a basic usability feature.  The product team understand that missing basic features that most users expect to be included in a drawing tool is simply unacceptable.

Hi I'm using the wireframes template and am perplexed that a simple "rotate" function wasn't considered an important feature to include for wireframing LOL

Joining the thread here, freehand rotate should be bumped up in the priorities in my opinion, or at least add the ability to draw sideways and right triangles to the shapes list.. only being able to do one kind of triangle seems kind of silly.

thanks!

as many have mentioned. this is a basic functionality. I am really surprised that a design platform doesn't support rotating an object!!

I can certainly understand the convenience of this potential feature, and the frustration at waiting for functionality to be added that you feel is key to your workflow. As discussed previously in this thread, this is something that is on our Product team's radar, and they are taking the interest for this into consideration as they plan for future updates to Freehand.

Yes, please add a rotate feature, seems like a no-brainer.

If rotate was not an essential feature for the product team, Raynor maybe you can provide us with the rationale for its exclusion.  Maybe we're not using the tool as it is intended.

I too am confused at the lack of basic functionality (SHAPE ROTATION, SPLINE/PEN TOOLS, CONNECTOR MANIPULATION, CONNECTION JUMPS, LOCALIZED SHAPE SNAPPING, SHAPE TEXT COLOR OPTIONS, etc)?

It all became apparent to me when evaluating the supplied templates.  They are a collection of redundant stickers, requiring fragile manual arrangements to be completed to create something that only looks like a flow diagram.  It's not practical for use in an agile team setting where constant speedy refinement and alterations are needed.

But again, maybe we're using the tool wrong?  Or expecting it to do something it wasn't designed to do.
