Merging multiple prototypes into one flow.

Hi, Is there a way to merge different prototypes into one?

I will try to explain what I want to achieve:

I created multiple prototypes using invision Studio (windows 10), now I am at a point where I want to create a home page screen that links to different sections of the website I am prototyping. Say I have Proto1, Proto2 and Proto3. I am creating the home page prototype that has links/buttons, when the user clicks on, say Proto1 I want to be able to show/redirect to Proto1 with all it's artboards and interactions.

is this even possible? I am unable to import prototypes, or copy and past them.

Hi Mawaheb,

So sorry to hear that you’re running into this issue!

I would expect that you'd be able to combine your projects by copying the artboards from Protos 2 & 3 into Proto 1. To help us dig into this further, could you please provide some further details on this?

  • Could you please provide any screenshots or a recording showing the issue you're having with copy/pasting?
  • Which version of Studio are you running?
  • Could you please send screenshots of both the “Device specifications” and the “Windows specifications” sections from your computer's “About” page. To grab that info, click the Start (Windows icon) button, and then click Settings > System > About.

Regards,
Raynor

Hello Raynor, Thanks for your reply.
I was just able now to copy a whole prototype and paste it into a second one!! seems like a restart of my computer has fixed the issue!!

Thank you so much!

P.s let me take the chance to wish you and all who is reading this, a Happy, Prospect and a healthy New Year and happy holidays! Stay Safe,

Thanks again.

Hi! I'm trying to do the same thing, but when I copy all the screens from one prototype to the other, all the hotspots are lost so I have to link the entire flow up all over again. Is there a way to actually link the two prototypes, hotspots included? Thanks

Hi Lydia,

Thanks for joining the thread!

What you're encountering here is expected behavior. Screens copied to another prototype will not include hotspots (or comments, history, Inspect data); more on this here: How do I move screens to a different prototype?

With that said, I'll go ahead and open a ticket on your behalf to add your vote to the ability to merge prototypes. Please keep an eye out for an email indicating that we’ve formally tracked your feedback.

Best,
Raynor

Just checking if this issue has been resolved that is " capability to merge two prototypes without losing the hotspots/comments/screen history versions ". Please let me know as this would be a huge benefit when working with multiple projects that need one home screen.

Hi Prakriti,

Thanks for getting in touch!

While it's possible to move/copy screens between prototypes, it's expected behavior that these will not include the original screens' hotspots, comments, history, or Inspect data.

However, I'm going to create a ticket on your behalf in order to formally add your vote to our open feature request for a the ability to merge multiple prototypes into one. Keep an eye for that email from me in you mailbox.

Thanks, Prakriti!

Best,
Raynor
