UPDATE

We’ve released a new version of Craft which includes support for the Craft Sync + Prototype plugin on Apple M1 processors. If you aren't automatically prompted to update, please open Craft and check for updates.

After updating, you can confirm you're on the latest version of Craft by opening Sketch, going to Plugins > Manage Plugins, and confirming you're on Craft 1.0.89.

This fix for Craft Sync + Prototype is one aspect of our current push to correct the compatibility issues that are preventing other Craft plugins—including DSM and Craft Freehand—from functioning properly on machines with the M1 processor. We'll post further updates as fixes are released for the DSM and Craft Freehand plugins.

Same here.

How can that be? The dev kits from apple for m1 are available since months.

Hi all,

I'm so sorry for the trouble you've had with using InVision on the latest Macbook Pros. This does appear to be a problem that we have recently become aware of and that our engineering team is currently investigating, as soon as we have any updates on their investigation, or when a fix is released, we will be sure to let you know. I'll go ahead and open tickets for each of you to let our team know you're affected by this, and to keep you updated.

I can only apologise for the problem and the inconvenience that this is causing you, please bear with us as we work on a fix for this, and do please let us know if you have any other related questions or comments.

Talk soon,

Camille

Hi Camille,

Many thanks for this answer. Unfortunately, that doesn't help me, because I can no longer upload my screens to Invision and it disrupts my workflow. I don't see how that could happen, the dev kits for the M1 have been around from Apple for a few months. Is there a possibility of a beta where this problem is resolved? Or when the problem will finally be solved?

Hi Camille - yeah this is kinda urgent. My workflow has dropped a notch whilst I have to export sketch files to a Mac where CRAFT still works.. Happy to use beta build if available too.

Hi all,

As like most of you, I'm also having the same issues having recently upgraded to an M1 MacBook. However I have found a workaround that utilises the best of both worlds. I updated the sketch that is present in my systems applications folder to the most recent version, then I downloaded the previous version of sketch (69.2) and placed it within my users application folder.

This allows me to harness the awesomeness of M1 that current sketch utilises and then I switch to the previous version to create interactions and upload the files to InVision.

HTH,

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks Atib for sharing that workaround!

I understand how frustrating it is to wait for a fix to an issue. Rest assured that our Craft engineering team is aware of this issue and is working hard to resolve it. Unfortunately I'm not able to share any specific time frame on the resolution of this bug, but our team are treating it as a priority.

In the meantime, I suggest dragging and dropping your screens from Sketch to inVision. I know that's not the best option, but hopefully will keep you unblocked.

Talk soon,

Camille

Please, this is killing me. Developers aren't able to inspect when I just drag PNGs into Invision, which defeats half the purpose of using Invision in the first place. Can you provide an update?

Hi Sabine and Tony,

Thanks for reaching out on this thread. I understand how frustrating it is to wait for a fix to an issue. The Engineering team is aware of the issue but we prioritize issues based on the scope and impact of the issue. For that reason, we don’t have an immediate fix available. However, this is an issue that the team are aware of and actively working on.

In the meantime, I will open a ticket on both of your behalf with our Support team who will be keeping you updated on the resolution to this issue.

Thanks for bearing with us,
Camille

Just got my Macbook and this disrupts my workflow immensely...

Hello,

I'm very surprised to hear that you've only "recently become aware of" the issue whilst numerous applications had a re-write to be able to adapt to the new silicon. The early adopters of the new macs and the people complaining here are naturally the leading professionals in the industry and you're dropping out of their workflows rapidly. I haven't been able to use Invision in the past month, and still paying for that time sadly.

Not being ready for it set aside, I find the lack of prioritization extremely disappointing.

To continue using the Craft Plug-In you can work with Rosetta. It is not ideal, but it can be used as a workaround until the issue is resolved
To use Rosetta, simply go to the application/Sketch in Finder > right click > select "Information" > Tick Box "Open with Rosetta".

This is no excuse to not fix the problem, but hopefully it will help in the meantime.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the workaround!

Camille M it's a pure shame your engineering team... I'm sorry but I'd fire them all for their speed and quality.

This is pretty ridiculous that InVision wouldn't be on top of this before Apple released their silicone, seeing as how the Apple user base is your target market.  There's no excuse not to have this fixed ASAP.

Could the issue be with Sketch app?... and NOT a problem with Craft/Invision? I only bring this up because I get the same error everyone described above ("Craft plugin unsupported").... BUT, I also get it for the rest of my plugins, like my Abstract plugin, which has nothing to do with Craft/Invision. See screenshot attached. BTW... the solution described above (running Sketch with "Open with Rosetta" enabled in Get Info panel) also worked to fix the exact same problem with my Abstract plugin.

WOW! Are you kidding guys? The craft manager (which stays in the status bar) causes the whole system CRASH! I did some tests just to make sure and YES when craft manager stays open → after 2-3 hours, macOS reboots with a message `CPU panic error ...`

You guys at Invision had at least 2-3 months to adapt it for M1... FACEPALM!

As a freelancer who is working with Fortune 500 companies... trust me when I say that you should take this much more seriously. There are many people like me who not only have their finger on the pulse of the industry tools, but also have more weight than you might think in influencing these companies on what tools they should use.

This is a prime example of a single tool that many of us use to get feedback on, send to developers to keep things on track and schedule. It's simply not acceptable to not have this working properly.

I'm actually often in meetings with Invision people trying to sell me on the benefits of DSM. And I'm speaking on behalf of the companies I work for. It's instances like this with Craft plugin that really make other platforms (Figma, Webflow) shine which were built as a web-based tool from the ground up. Maybe that's more of Sketch's problem, but when you have a whole company paying for a tool like Invision... you expect it to just work.

Thanks for reaching out in our Community on this issue. We agree that using InVision should be seamless and enjoyable, and we strive to minimize impact to our customers. We didn't realize the effect Apple's M1 chip could have on Craft. Since being alerted to this issue we've acquired several new MacBooks and have the teams laser-focused on resolving this issue as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, you can continue to use Craft by opening Sketch using the Mac program Rosetta as described in this post or using the steps below:

  1. Right click on the Sketch program from Finder, and tap "Get info"
  2. Select the checkbox that says "Open using Rosetta". The checkbox will stay active on subsequent launches until you manually uncheck it.
  3. Follow the prompts to install Rosetta
  4. Open Craft, and you shouldn't see any errors

This workaround may also cause reduced performance in Sketch, since Rosetta is an app that enables Intel-based apps to run on Apple Silicon Macs. However, in most cases you won't notice a performance decrease.

We know this isn't an ideal solution, and we're terribly sorry for the inconvenience. We hope it will be a viable option to help you continue using Craft in the interim. Addressing this issue is on our engineering team's radar and we're actively working on a solution. Thank you for your candid feedback on the impact of this issue and your patience while we address it.

Thank you,

Jessica

This still isn't fixed. Can we get an update? Forcing Sketch to run in Rosetta (and thus negating all performance benefits of the native M1 version) is not an acceptable solution.

Hi Camille, I was having the same issue on my M1 with version 70.3. Additionally, all other plugins (Iconify, Unsplash) were also causing Sketch to crash when the plugin launched. I have used the workaround that Atib suggested (version 69.2 download) and it seems to fix both issues. Can you please add me to a ticket so I can be notified when this is resolved. Thanks.

Hi Emily,

Sorry to hear that you're also running into this issue as well, but glad that you've found an interim workaround.

I’m opening a ticket on your behalf with our Support team so they can link it up with this bug. Please keep an eye out for an email from one of our Support agents soon.

Apologies for any frustration and disruption that this issue is causing you!

Regards,
Raynor

Hi,

I just got the M1 Macbook pro. Craft does not work. What I should do? I understand everything but this is a few months after release.
Please let me know.

Many thanks,

Can you give us a date when it will be fixed? Difficult to guess and should I search for a different tool and ask for a refund?

For my fellow friends in the same situation and a suggestion for Invision: Google File Stream listed support for M1 Macs coming in April. April is a long ways away but at least they are COMMUNICATING in the release notes. We don't want instructions again on how to open an app in Rosetta. >>>> https://support.google.com/a/answer/7577057

Yeah, I'm waiting for this fix as well. Is there any news about when this fix will be there? This is making my work a lot harder at the moment.
