Freehand image quality

Anyone have any best practices for adding higher quality images in Freehand? Mine show up pixelated and the original is not.

I'm experiencing this problem too. I've tried to use the tool for remote collaboration but the image quality rendering means it's just not worth the trouble.

Hi Blake and Scott,

Thanks for reaching out to InVision Support today! I'm sorry to hear that you're having some difficulties with your Freehands, but I'll be happy to troubleshoot this with you both.

To get a better idea of what's happening on your end, I'd like to gather some more information.

- Could you please send through some screenshots or a screen recording showing this issue occurring?
- If you try accessing your Freehands via a private/incognito window, does the issue persist?
- Could you please confirm your browser and OS details by going to www.whatsmybrowser.org, clicking the “Copy” button, and pasting the link it gives you into your reply?
- What dimensions are the images being uploaded to Freehand?

I'm sorry to reply to you with questions rather than answers, but this information will help us dig into this issue further. Looking forward to your reply!

Regards,

Camille

This has always been an issue in Freehand for me. Has there been any progress made on a resolution?

I'm facing this issue too. Any progress?

I capture screenshots and paste them in, after a little zoom in / zoom out / hands up / hands down the images degrade and become more and more pixelated. Image uploads seem to perform a little better

Apologies - Just how saw this because of the new comment.

- Could you please send through some screenshots or a screen recording showing this issue occurring?

At 9% zoom.

- If you try accessing your Freehands via a private/incognito window, does the issue persist? Yes, other team members have the same issue.

- Could you please confirm your browser and OS details by going to www.whatsmybrowser.org, clicking the “Copy” button, and pasting the link it gives you into your reply? https://www.whatsmybrowser.org/b/Y50UQ

- What dimensions are the images being uploaded to Freehand?

Tried several sizes / dimensions and file types. SVG, PNG mostly. In this example the width is 5ft wide (the final will be printed).

I'm having the same issue. When the images are at Invision they look great though. The problem is when I open in Freehand...

I am also experience the same thing, and the strange is that some of the images of the same file get pixels and others no.

Hi there, I'm also experiencing pixelated images. I'm using the Craft manager to sync via Sketch to Freehand. I also tried manually adding images as well, but the pixelated images still persist. My images are for Desktop layouts for a website. I'm wanting to view various pages next to one another to allow our team to easily comment and discuss, but seems unproductive if the designs themselves are pixelated.

Hello, I just wanted to ask why after all of the inputs there is still a problem with image quality on freehand?

and seriously, waiting almost 2 years to solve this kind of issue is literally a joke. Please deal with it finally!

Hello. Yeah, all my boards historically were very clear, and now they are all somewhat readable, but pixelated. Even the ones from months ago. Definitely an issue now as these are client facing. The fact that is has affected older boards lends me to believe it's something on InVision's side.

Mac. Sketch 69.2 Viewing freehand board in Chrome or safari doesnt matter. Craft plug in.

Thoughts on solutions?

Hi Gabriele, Kirby, Kuba and Brent,

So sorry to hear about the issues you've run into with your larger images appearing blurry/pixelated when uploaded/synced to a Freehand.

Unfortunately, this does appear to be related to a known issue that our Engineers will be investigating further, where rendering quality in Freehand is degraded due to the size of the image. I'll open tickets for each of you to let our Engineering team know you are also running into this issue, and as soon as we have any updates from them we will be sure to follow up with you.

The best recommendation we can make at this point is to avoid using such large images, and instead try to use much smaller, and more atomic/modular images in your Freehands (max dimension of 4095 is usually a safe rule of thumb). This will also generally help increase the overall performance of the Freehand.

Our apologies again for the poor user experience here - please do let us know if you have any further questions in the meantime.

Regards,

Best,

Camille
