Interactions inside component items

Hello.

Let's say I have three items that nested inside a group. The group is a component.

I only can add interaction to the group (the component), but if an item nested inside a component, it cannot receive any interaction.

Is this something that is part of Invision capabilities at the moment? Just want to know if this is the case and not simply a bug.

Thanks, Alon.

Hi Alon,

Thanks for following up on out Community Ambassador's questions about this. Unfortunately, this feature is not currently available. However, we are currently tracking interest to allow for interactions to be added to layers within a component!

I will open a ticket on your behalf to track your interest for this functionality. Keep an eye out for an email confirming that we have logged your feedback for this potential feature in Studio. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help out with

Have a wonderful day,

Shaina

Hi Alon

Thanks for reaching out here in Community about this! To be clear, are you hoping to allow for multiple interactions within a nested component?

What software other than InVision App are you using to get the intended outcome?

Stay awesome!

Hi. As you can see, I have three buttons that are inside a group, and each one of them connects to another artboard. So far, so good.

Let's say I want to use the whole group as a component, so instead of "just" a group, It will be a component that I can use it again.

The problem is, once the btns group will be a component, it is not possible to add interactions to the items inside of it, only to add interaction to the whole container/component.

I hope I'm more clear now. Thanks!

Hey. Just a quick suggestion. The way I "hack" around this is to create a transparent item that I call "hot spot," and I will give the interaction to this item. Hot spots like in Sketch, for example, can be beneficial.

I like studio and the invision ecosystem. I can't wait for future updates.

I'm also wondering this, but in terms of building out a hamburger menu in Studio. It won't really work for a hotspot, because it will always have to reduce back to the page of the hotspot. So, in order to animate/prototype a sliding hamburger menu, is the solution to have each screen duplicated, with one having the popped out menu? That seems really time consuming- I feel like there HAS to be another way.
This can be done in Sketch with the Craft plugin for Invision, but I would think Studio, being a 'full' program, should have the full range of features that the app has...or is that just wishful thinking?

Hi All

Trust you are well.

Alon Lubin Thats a good workaround and so glad you were able to figure it out on your own. Nice one!

Future iterations of Studio will only get better and better. Please come back now and again as we do announce updates made to the community.

Here is a link to the InVision Studio Release Notes that get published after ever release if you are interested.

Jill DeClavasio Thanks for reaching out and for posting this. Yes, for now, you will have to create duplicate screens with an instance of a screen with the effect you desire to showcase as per what you mentioned.

In regards to the last part of your post, not wishful thinking at all. The Studio team is working tirelessly to try and build up Studio to its full potential. Enhancements will be made periodically, but I can already tell you a lot of headway has been made, and it will only get better.

Thank you both for interacting with the community.

Wishing you a great day and stay awesome.
