Managing developer hand off and version control

Hello,

We are working on a large project where screens are being delivered to development for them to get started, but we are continuing to iterate on the UX as follow up stories. I know version control preview exists, but developers can't inspect a previous screen.  The user stories written also only account for the UX at the previous version. But when a developer clicks the URL, they no longer have access to inspect that version because the page has been updated. The only known solution I see is creating multiple artboards or prototypes to keep an old version 'inspectable' and continue to iterate and post the updates separately.  This is super problematic from a management perspective.

Has anyone run into this? How do you manage it?

Hey Samantha,

Mike from InVision Support here. I'm really sorry to hear you're experiencing these troubles using Inspect.

Your case definitely makes sense as to why having an option to Inspect previous screen versions.

I'm happy to report our Product team is indeed tracking interest in adding this functionality.

With that being said, I will open a ticket on your behalf to add your vote to develop this potential feature. Please keep an eye out for an email indicating that we’ve formally tracked your feedback.

In the meantime, I wanted to share this previous post with you as there seems to be some good information on the Design > Development process that might be helpful. Feel free to check this thread here.

Have a great day,
Mike
