BUG v-scroll behaviour on inspect mode

hello,

Everytime I am about to view a MockUp of our UX team in the "inspect mode"

and try to scroll down the cursor's pointer turns into ew-resize and I am no longer able to use

the scrol bar, it also doesn't let me scroll vertically, using the arrow keys.

This basically makes it impossible to view/re-view the MockUps.

Browser used: FF 75.0 (64-Bit)

Hey Tobias,

Mike from InVision Support here. I'm really sorry to hear you're experiencing these troubles with the Inspect scroll bar.

After testing this out, I was unable to replicate this same behavior. However, we would like get a better idea why this is happening and was hoping you could provide the following details:

  1. Does this happen with any size of project or does this happen to be with larger sized files? For example, does this happen with a project with only 1 screen?
  2. Can you scroll by holding down space bar, then click+drag around the screen?

Once I have these details, we will be better suited to dive deeper into this investigation together.

In the meantime, we sometimes see odd behavior like this when the browser's local files associated with InVision become outdated or corrupted and would suggest opening a private/incognito window to see if this problem persists.

If it does help, I'd suggest clearing that data (cache and cookies) from your browser. For help doing that, please see Clearing your Browser's Cache and Cookies for more detail. Once cleared as per the linked instructions, please restart your browser and attempt to scroll around Inspect.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out, we're here to help any way we can.

Looking forward to hearing back!

All the best,

Mike

Hello Mike,

Thank you for the reply.

1. It happens on all kinf of projects, regardless the size or # of screens

2. This option is available to me, yes

Today I also tested it on Chrome with the same result

I made a small screen caption to demo the issue: https://drive.google.com/open?id=11hS3Kmy6gbmv4vMYcbDbfxpMn7vmYjZP

I cleared the cache multiple times, no effect.

Hi Tobias,

Thanks for providing this additional information. Our sincere apologies for the trouble here 😞.  This appears to be related to a known issue that our Engineering team is currently investigating.

I will open a ticket on your behalf with our Support team so they can confirm whether or not what you're experiencing is related to the known issue. Please look for an email from one of our Support agents soon.

In the meantime, the only workaround we can offer is to hold down the space bar and clicking+dragging around the screen or use the scroll/trackpad on the mouse instead. Again, we are sorry for the trouble!

Thanks for hanging in there,

Shaina

I'm also getting this behaviour now, 2 months after being reported by Tobias. It is so annoying particularly looking at a mobile web page design where the screen is long. The vertical scroll bar shows up but I'm unable to use it. The mouse pointer shows up exactly as reported by Tobias. The workaround works but why? I had to Google it out of frustration, that's why I got into this page. I tried it on Chrome Version 79.0.3945.117 (Official Build) (64-bit), and Firefox 77.0.1 (64-bit), and I'm on Windows.

Sorry to hear that you're running into similar issues to what Tobias reported above, Frank. As mentioned in my previous response, Tobais' report is related to a known issue that our Engineering team is aware of. I'm sorry to say that we don't have a fix for this particular issue at this time.

I'm glad to hear that the workaround mentioned above is working for you! We do understand that this is not ideal, though.

To be sure that you're experiencing the same issues as Tobias, can you please provide some additional information for our Support team to review?:

  1. Does this happen with any size of project or does this happen to be with larger sized files? For example, does this happen with a project with only 1 screen?
  2. A screenshot showing the issues that you're encountering.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

Hi Shaina,

Yes, it happens on a small project. The attached screenshot is for a single and small page project, that I have to resize the browser window to show the scroll bar. The scroll bar shows but it is not usable.

Thanks for reporting this,

Shaina

This is happening for me as well. Developer can't use inspect at all. He is on Windows and Chrome. Could not scroll with mouse wheel or arrows or dragging the scrollbar. The space and drag also did not work for him.

Is there a fix for it any time soon? Using Space bar + Left Cursor (pan) is also no longer working for me, the cursor does not turn into the Hand icon...

Hi Chui and Tobias,

I'm sorry to hear that this continues to be an issue for each of you. After some further review of the behavior described by Tobias and Frank above, I can confirm that this is related to a known issue that our Engineering team is continuing to investigate. To determine if you're also encountering this issue, Chui, I would like to open a ticket with our Support team for you. And for you, Tobias, I will be notifying your Support agent of your comments here in your existing ticket.

In the meantime, some potential workarounds we can offer are to hold down the space bar and click+drag the canvas around the screen, or to use mouse scroll or trackpad instead. My apologies for not having better news to share at this time, as I realize none of these may be ideal or applicable to your workflow, but I still wanted to mention them in case they could be helpful.

My sincerest apologies again for any frustration and disruption this issue may be causing!

Thanks for your continued patience,

Shaina

Hey Logan,

It's Mike from InVision here. Sorry for the delay getting this resolved.

Unfortunately, we're still trying to get this one squashed and in the meantime, we suggest scrolling by holding down space bar, then click+drag around the screen.

With that being said, are you running into these issues currently? If so, please let us know so we can get you in contact with our Support team.

If you've got any questions or concerns, please let us know. We're here for you!

Cheers,

Mike
