Career development

Ive seen alot of ways people manage their own career development and set themselves attainable targets. This is something ive always struggled with.

What does everyone do to guide their own career development? How do you manage your process and measure successes?

Career development can sometimes be difficult but it is very necessary in my opinion. To grow in a career, you need to continuously develop that career. It's either you're choosing a new path to get new skills or developing the one you already have.

Managing the process for me is simple. Set a target and timeline for your self. It's all about discipline. Success for me would be using that new skill/experience gained during the career dev process to solve real world problems successfully.

Our company have recently completed their own version of SFIA for designers which I use to plot out targets and set goals which I find really helpful. It alows me to have a target to work towards for this.

It would be good to see if anyone else has something like this.
