Studio crashed and all progress gone

My studio froze and I was forced to force quit Studio. I really just worked 4h+ on something and thought it was auto saved, all my progress is gone. Only my published prototype in Invision is up-to-date. Please tell me that there are recovery options. I'm really stressing out.

Thanks for reaching out — I'm so sorry to hear that you've lost some of your work after force-quitting Studio

Unfortunately, Studio does not have the ability to auto save at this time. Sadly, we would be unable to recover any lost work. 

I do know that our Product team is closely tracking a request to allow Studio to autosave. I will open a ticket on your behalf to let them know that you've been impacted by this.

I feel so terrible that I don't have better news to share at this point. Please let us know if there's anything else we can help out with.

Hi , I am also experiencing invision studio crashed, and it is quite consistence. I am not sure it is because of the way to design our prototype. but it's just keep crashing in MAC ,please let me know it's a way to optimise our work in order not to crash.

Hi there,

I noticed that one of our Support agents has following up on your ticket with some troubleshooting questions. They will need the information requested in their response in order to determine if you're encountering the same issue that our Engineering team is currently looking at.

This is so terrible. I too just lost 3hrs of prototype work. Autosave/ back up every 10/20min should be made available as a basic feature

I just started use inVision instead od adobe Xd and I lost my job as well... Im so angry about that ...  i think to back to adobe again...

It's Mike from InVision here. I'm terribly sorry to hear this happened. 

It's certainly not the information we want to hear and if you'd like for our Support Engineering team to dig into this further, please let us know the following details: 

  • What browser and operating system are you using? You can get these details by going to http://www.whatsmybrowser.org/, clicking “Copy”, and pasting the link it gives you here.
  • Do you know a date/time a crash occurred?
  • Do you still have the Studio file available for us to look into?

Additionally, I'm going to add your vote to add an auto-save function in Studio to ensure we can avoid these kinds of situations in the future.

My computer crashed, I thought that when you hit publish it would save to the cloud or something. I don't seem to be able to find a way to import my project from the published page. Is there any way to get this project back? About 3 hrs of work lost.

Hello,

I just started using Invision Studio less than 2 weeks ago, and it has crashed twice! It happened once on last Friday and today. My computer crashed right after I updated/published it, and I lost 7 hrs of work. Please tell me there’s a way to retrieve what I updated 🙏🏻

Just wondering how many votes are needed to make it happen? Since the first post is from Dec 11, 2019 and the auto-save feature is still not available?

Please advise, thank you 🙏🏻

I worked and saved the InVision studio file 2 days before. Today  when i open studio the file was not there. But i checked the published link it is working fine and in my all my files are in browser. But couldn't open in InVision studio to continue the wor. Please help me.

Thanks for reaching out to InVision Support today! I'm sorry to hear that you're having some trouble accessing your project; I know that must be quite frustrating. I'll be happy to troubleshoot this with you. 

As a first thing to rule out, could you please do a Spotlight search of your whole computer for the file name to see if you able to locate the file locally? You could also search for .studio to locate all Studio files.

If you're still unable to locate the file itself by searching your computer, I'd like to gather some more information. 

  • Could you please send through some screenshots or a screen recording showing the steps you're taking to open the project, and the issue occurring, including any error messages you see? 
  • Which version of Studio are you running?
  • Could you please send a screenshot of your "About This Mac" panel

This information will help us dig into this issue further. Looking forward to your reply!

This is stupid, its 2022 and auto save is not available. If i copy paste anything to invision studio by mistake from any other app it crashes and doesn't save my file. I have lost 3 hrs of my work.

I can certainly understand the frustration of waiting for a potential feature to be implemented. Our Product team is monitoring this feature request, and they evaluate and prioritize these by taking into account interest, scope, cost, and impact. Rest assured, I see that you've already submitted your vote using the button above, so your feedback has been passed on for their consideration. 

As for the the issue you mentioned about Studio crashing when copying and pasting, this certainly does sound like a headache! We'd be happy to pass this on to our Support team for troubleshooting. If you'd like us to investigate this further for you, please reply with some further details: 

  • If you're comfortable/able to share here, could you please send through some screenshots or a screen recording showing the issue occurring, especially of any error message you see when Studio crashes?
  • Which version of Studio are you running?
  • Which OS are you running?
     If on Mac, could you please send a screenshot of your "About This Mac" panel
    – 
    If on Windows, could you please send some screenshots of both the “Device specifications” and the “Windows specifications” sections on the “About” page?

I have a similar problem with Invision Studio. Sometimes the app just crashes. The devastating part is that even if I constantly hit the save button (every 5 seconds), Invision will crash and I will lose all my progress. My progress is reset to the last time Invision crashed. 

 

Invision is now crashing on me about once every 5 minutes. I would switch to another tool, but I'm restricted to only using Invision Studio by my organization. Please please please fix how your app saves files. Auto-save, or even just actually saving the file when I hit Ctrl + s. Something.
