Importing an SVG file

Hello all,

I recently downloaded Invision Studio and I didn't get very far before I realized I cannot seem to figure out how to import and SVG.

At first I thought it would be easy, just click File > Import > select the SVG file > Done.

However, that is not the case as it will not let me select any .SVG files I have available to me and have used many times in other products, just fine.

Am I missing something here?

Hi Stacy,

Here's a link to an article that breaks down how to import into Studio. At the very bottom of the page you will find what items can be imported into Studio as SVG.

Please let me know if you have any follow up questions about how SVG imports work.

Cheers,

Shaina

I have already seen that it and it does not tell me how to do anything. Just says it is possible and if having issues contact support.

So I am guessing I will just have to reach out to support on this?

Hi Stacy,

Thanks for following up, and for taking the time to review that article. I have made our documentation aware of the fact that the SVG import instructions aren't clear enough in that article, and they have updated the article to show the SVG import process.

To clarify, you must drag-and-drop or copy-paste (⌘C + ⌘V) the SVG file into your Studio file in order to import SVGs.  Please let me know if you have any issues with bringing your SVGs into Studio this way.

Additionally, we're currently tracking interest for a feature that would allow you to import SVGs in the way you described in your original post. If you'd like to be able to right-click on a SVG file and "Open With" Studio, let me know and I'll get a ticket opened to track your interest for this.

Best,

Shaina

Shaina,

Thanks so much for clarifying that for me. I ended up being able to drag the file into Studio.

I personally, do not go to a file separately and try to "open with" something as I usually prefer to just import directly into the file I am wanting it in. However, I am sure that could be useful for others that like to do it that way.

Thanks,

Stacy
