How to rename an artboard

Hello,

This is a very simple task I want to accomplish, but this software is not as intuitive as I would expect.

Well... I have created an artboard whose default name is "Artboard 1". Now, I want to rename it.

I have clicked and double clicked in the artboard name in the designer area. I have clicked and double clicked in the artboard name in the layer panel (the one that appears to the left of the screen). I have right-clicked in the artboard name with the hope that I would find a "rename" option or something like that. There is no way to rename the artboard!!!

How can I do it?

Thanks

Jaime

Hi Jaime

I have been using Invision Studio now for about 4 days (super new), and I have been able to re-name artboards by double clicking within the left hand menu (layer menu), that is up until about an hour ago. All renaming stopped including groups, icons etc. I saved the file I was working on, closed the all instances of Invision and restarted the program - on restart I was able to rename again. Not ideal but it worked in this case.

I think a 'rename' option within the context menu would be great too.

Hope it works for you.

Just to add to my above comment, when I attempt to select/highlight text when in the rename option, the ability to rename completely stops and I need to restart the application (on a windows 10 device).

When in the renaming option, if I just click delete or type anything, i'm not having any issues, just when I try to highlight any text. Found this out with a bit of trail and error and a lot of restarting.

No more selecting for me from now on, I'd say.

Regards, Bhups

Jaime Stuardo: There are two ways you can rename an artboard (or any other layer) in Studio:

  • In the layers list, double-click the artboard name
  • Select the artboard, and enter the shortcut ⌘R (Mac) or ⌃R (Windows)

You're right to note that currently there isn't a renaming option that you can find when you right-click an artboard in the canvas. This is a feature request we're currently monitoring interest levels for. I will go ahead and log your vote towards seeing this implemented — please keep an eye out for an email from our team!

Note: If anybody else would like to add their feedback about this potential feature, please submit a ticket with our Support team, detailing the feature you are looking for.

Bhupen Patel: So sorry to hear about the trouble renaming layers in Studio! To help our team understand this issue a bit better, could you please share a few additional details?

  • Can you please send a screenshot of your operating system information, both the “Device specifications” and the “Windows specifications” sections on the “About” page? To grab those details, click the Start (Windows icon) button, and then click Settings > System > About.
  • Which Studio version are you using?

Best,
Laura

Hi Laura

Thanks for your response.

I am using version 1.24.0 of InVision Studio. Attached is an image of my Device and Windows specification.

Hope it helps. If my description is not clear of what is happening I am happy to create a little video.

I have a workaround so this is not disruptive.

Kind regards, Bhups.

Ella B, how are you?

I'm experiencing the same problem Bhupen has. It started after I installed some Apps on Invision. Maybe this will help you guys.

Before that I was able to rename perfectly.

Hey Shaina, the information you asked for:

Invision version: 1.26.1

https://recordit.co/bh1P7R8mo6

Like Bhupen said, it stops working after you try to select/highlight the text
