DSM slowing down Sketch?

The team I work with in my org are having performance issues with their Sketch files while using the DSM and Craft.

There is a notable drop in performance with Sketch while they are using the DSM.

Would there be a root issue causing this? We do have a few libraries in the DSM, each are different sizes etc, so my initial thoughts would be that the size of the DSM might be causing this?

Sorry to hear that DSM is affecting your team's productivity when working in Sketch. In order to take a closer look at this for you, can you please provide some more information?:

  1. The version(s) of DSM that you and your team are running
  2. The version(s) of Sketch that you and your team are running
  3. The version(s) of Craft Manager that you and your team are running
  4. Is this affecting people on multiple operating systems? If so, are you able to provide all operating system details?
  5. Are you able to provide a screencast displaying this drop in performance?

The version(s) of DSM that you and your team are running - We are running V 1.1.24


The version(s) of Sketch that you and your team are running - We are on 59.1


The version(s) of Craft Manager that you and your team are running - We are on 1.0.84


Is this affecting people on multiple operating systems? If so, are you able to provide all operating system details? - Unknown, Most are currently on High Sierra I believe though


Are you able to provide a screencast displaying this drop in performance? - Not at this moment, the description from the designers that are experiencing this, is that in the overrides for text for a symbol, they type the text in but it does not appear straight away, and there is a delay, it also slows the responsiveness of their Sketch files overall

Thanks for providing those details, Stephen. It looks like you and your team may be on an outdated version of Craft Manager. Can I please first have you try to get everybody to update to the latest version of Craft Manager 1.0.89, and let us know if the problem(s) persist?

If this issue continues after updating, I would like for our Support team to take a closer look at as many instances from your team as possible to help get to the bottom of this.

We have similar problems, we are using the latest version of craft manager. This is a serious problem for scaling our design system for bigger use within the organisation.

Hi Ulf,

Sorry to hear that you and your team are running into this as well. As requested above, can you please provide the following information?:

  1. The specific versions of OSX, Sketch,Craft Manager & Craft Sync?
  2. Can you share a screenshot of the 'about this mac' window?

Additionally, can you open up activity monitor and run/screenshot the following scenarios:

  1. When using Sketch and NOT in DSM.
  2. When adding something to DSM (or what specifically triggers the spike). 
  3. After the DSM action is completed.

Finally, please be sure to disable any other Sketch plugins you have before running the test. Look forward to hearing back from you with this information.
