Is Studio still alive?

No updates for more then 2 months. So many lacking things (especially performance). What's the plan for Studio? It would be nice to know if Invision plans on further developing this. Your customers would appreciate it.

When can we expect big updates???

Thank you each for chiming in to provide some feedback and express your concerns regarding Studio and its development. We completely understand how frustrating it can be to wait for big features and bug fixes to be released. I can assure you that our Product and Engineering teams continue to work hard on developing Studio to make it the most robust and intuitive tool for each and everyone of you.

I have already reached out to our Studio Product Managers to share your comments here in Community as we’re still deeply committed to the Studio product, and are sensitive to your concerns about the pace of updates. I can confirm that we’re working on some bigger updates based on customer feedback we’ve heard here in Community and elsewhere and we think you’ll be excited by those improvements when released, but it’s still early and we don’t have any updates we can share quite yet. As soon as we have any updates, we will be sure to share the news as we’re as excited about the potential of Studio as you all are.

We want to extend our thanks in advance for your patience and understanding. If there are any features you'd like to add your interest for, or issues with Studio that you're encountering, please be sure to reach out to our Support team here so that they can effectively track your reports.

They just launched DSM - so they are working on stuff. But I'm still waiting for the 1 killer feature: ability to create a menu component and it retain interaction links. Protopie does a really great job with it. There are a lot of great features Studio has but this one is such a core function for just about every mockup designers work on.

I completely agree on interactions within components. I've been trying a few different tools after getting fed up with having to use multiple software to design then prototype and I've just come back to try Invision Studio because the timeline interactions look amazing, but a few hours in to notice you can't make interactions within components is about to make me stop using it.

It brings back nightmares of creating a 30 page site and then having a change from the client and having to move the navigation elements and then copy new hotspots onto every page when you should be able to just do this once like in other tools.

It feels like a lot of these design tools are just considering a landing page or a couple of screens on an app for Dribbble as they make it really hard to create anything larger. I can't believe that doesn't get considered, you add a symbol or component system to make it easy to make global edits and the thing most likely to show up on every page that needs interactivity is a navigation but it's been designed so you can't feasibly make that a component.

If this is the top thing on the roadmap then I'll definitely come back to it soon as it's a really impressive tool but otherwise this is just going to cost me a lot of time if I client asks for changes.

..yeah i'm definitely out, just realised SVGs don't import properly, no shadows and blur! I actually won't be able to use this. Sorry to be negative but I'll have to try again at some point in the future if I don't settle on another too.

It's actually quite annoying to lure designers in with motion easing and animation to then discover they left out the basics a few hours in.

Alan, DSM isn't studio. Studio lacks so many things that should of been in MVP and had no updates in over 2 months. They use to update it every 7-10 days.

Like Charlie mentioned, you can't even import SVG's properly and it's been this way since it came out.

From an outsider, looking at the amount of effort and work put into the marketing/social media, it seems as though they're putting their money in the wrong areas as once the marketing sucks a user in to try Studio, they quickly realize its lacking way to much and flee.

Sucks cuz this tool had so much potential.

Actually I've realised they do have a shadow, I was just going off other comments and the SVG issue is a problem but I could definitely work around it with images for now. I'm just disappointed that with that and the lack of interactions inside a component has made it unusable for me when with those it would probably be one of the best tools there is. If it looks like it keeps getting updated I'm sure I'll try again soon

Thanks for the update Shaina. If there is a major update coming (like an app re-write), it would make sense why bugs and features aren't being addressed ATM.

Update Priority #1 should be fixing the Sync with Invision. I cannot upload any projects/assets from Studio to Invision after many attempts and research. It's a bit of a deal-breaker to keep encountering this bug.

If only Sketch had better built-in interactions to produce better Invision projects through Craft... We wouldn't have to use Studio at all.

Hi Nicholas,

Sorry to hear that you're running into issues with syncing your Studio projects to InVision. We definitely want to help you get to the bottom on what's going wrong here.

To get a better idea of the issues you're running into, can you please provide some additional information?:

  1. The version of Studio that you're using
  2. A screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview or other OS details
  3. Are you receiving any error messages?
  4. What exactly happens when you attempt to upload your Studio project to the InVision Cloud?

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks for taking the time to provide that information. After working with our Support agents, some of those that reported this same issue in the other thread you commented on were able to reach a solution.

That being said, I would like for our for one of our Support agents to work directly with you to determine the source of the issue you're running into. I will open a ticket on your behalf including all of the details that you have here. Please keep an eye out for an email from one of our Support agents soon.

Best,

Shaina

I'm definitely hoping the long gap since the last update means there's a big patch around the corner. It would be amazing to finally have layer styles, text styles, a blur filter, and DSM integration.
