Blurry exports

When I upload my Sketch symbols to DSM, they appear to be blurry, non-retina images.
I have tried:

- Updating the settings of Craft (which was already at @2x)
- Update general preferences of Sketch to include an @2x suffix
- Enabled the "Make Exportable" art board setting to be at @2x
- Switching between JPG / PNG in the "Make Exportable" section

Is this not supported in DSM, or am I missing something here?

Hi Gert,

I apologize for the issues you're running into with getting blurry images in DSM. To get a better idea of what might be causing this, can you please provide the following information?:

  1. A screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview
  2. The version of Sketch that you're using
  3. The version of Craft Manager that you're running
  4. The version of DSM that you're running
  5. A screencast or screenshot(s) displaying the blurry image(s)

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

Thanks for taking the time to provide all of that information! After reviewing the information above, it appears as if what you're encountering may be related to a known issue that our Engineering team is investigating.

To be sure you're encountering the same issue, I would like for our Support team to take a closer look and will open a ticket on your behalf. Please look out for an email from one of our Support agents soon.

Thanks for hanging in there,

Shaina

My team has been noticing this issue as well. We're also having the same issue for images and screenshots that get added to the documentation. Has there been any movement on the fix for this? Looks like the Engineering team has been working on it since 2019?

This is an issue for our team as well. Symbol previews and placed images look blurry on retina displays.

Sure. Here's the additional info you requested. Essentially, it's not bringing in @2x images in the component previews or in images I add to content areas. It looks fine on an older standard resolution monitor, but images look blurry on retina displays.

Is there any solve for imagery that's uploaded to the content area being blurry? Is it just overcompressing the image?

Hey Connie,

I was able to get nice, crisp images in the page content area by uploading 1600px wide images (800px images exported at @2x). The content area is 800px wide and will shrink images down to fit that width if they are wider. I did this for all images even when the content only needed a few hundred pixels of width, so you may have a lot of white/blank space on one side of your images.

Symbol uploads are still blurry though.

I am having the same issue as everybody above. Uploaded images from Sketch at 2xPNG or even 10xPNG are rendering blurry. We are on the legacy version of DSM, I wonder if it has something to do with that?

Exporting my desktop HD mocks from Sketch to Invision is also causing blurry renderings.

Hi Meredith,

Thanks for reaching out to our Community! I'm sorry to hear that you're having some trouble with your exports.

Just to clarify, is this relating to uploading to DSM or syncing a Sketch file to a regular desktop prototype in InVision Cloud? To get a better idea of the trouble you're encountering and pass this on to our Support team, I'd like to gather some further details:

  • Are you comfortable/able to provide some screenshots or a screen recording showing the blurry rendering?
  • Which versions of Craft and Sketch are you running?
  • Could you please confirm your browser and OS details by going to www.whatsmybrowser.org, clicking the “Copy” button, and pasting the link it gives you into your reply?

This information will help us dig into this issue further. Looking forward to your reply!

Best,
Raynor
