How can i create an animated overlay to present a dynamic navigation?

Hello, i want to display a number of tabs one for each day of the week that will be positioned above a Schedule/Calendar type grid, and when you hover over a tab it grows taller to indicate that it is clickable.

How can i create this animation without having to create multiple copies of the same Artboard? can i just create the animated navigation tabs and then add it to any artboards where i want this animated navigation?

I was thinking it could be done as an overlay?

Hi Phillip,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in Community! Unfortunately, there is not a simple way to create animation that you have described at this time besides setting up multiple artboards as you noted.

However, we are currently tracking a feature request to allow for multiple states in Studio components which would cover the functionality you're looking for. In the meantime, I will open a ticket on your behalf to track your interest for this feature.

Please keep an eye out for an email confirming that we've formally tracked your feedback. If there's anything else I can help out with, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Have a great day!

Shaina

ok thank you Shaina,

the ideal solution would to be able to Create an Animated Component, i could then add the buttons and create the motion effect to simulate the dropdown list. Save this Animated Component and then add it into a layout template. i would only have to create the animated navigation once without the need to create an artboard for each rollover state.

Is it also possible to suggest an Auto-Save enhancement so that Studio will auto-save work in the background. i recently lost 6 hours worth of work because Studio crashed and i didnt know it did not have an auto-save feature

Thanks for that additional feedback, Phillip. I will be sure to add those comment to your ticket for this feature request.

It looks like we're also tracking interest for autosave in Studio. I'm so sorry to hear that you lost hours of work! That is extremely frustrating, and we certainly understand the need for this.

I will open a separate ticket on your behalf to track your interest for this feature as well. Please keep an eye out for another email for this.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything else I can help out with.

Best,

Shaina

I've researched multiple conversations on this topic of animated components. Please inform me when this function has been created.

Hi Edward,

Thanks for chiming in here. To be clear, are you hoping to add your interest for the feature request mentioned above - to allow for multiple states in Studio components?

If so, I'm happy to open a ticket on your behalf to track your need for this as well. Please let me know and I will get a ticket opened for you.

In the meantime, I suggest also checking out our Help Article on Managing Advanced Animations in Studio to see what animations are currently possible with components.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

Can i also stress the importance in being able to assign a transition to a Component. ideally what i would like to achieve is an animated component that has a transition. i could then create a series of rollover animations that would be the navigation tabs for a website, that when clicked (or other transition action) would take the User to the desired artboard (webpage)

Hi Phillip,

Thank you for the additional feedback! To clarify, it is currently possible to assign an interaction to a component, as seen in the example screenshot below.

If I misunderstood your question and you actually meant something else, please let me know!

Hi Laura, in the example you have provided i would have to create that Interaction on every artboard that i insert that Component within. what i would like to do is assign an interaction to the Master Component, and that interaction be in place in every instance the Component is inserted into an Artboard. so if i change the interaction in the Master, then that Interaction is changed across all instances of the Component

Hi Phillip,

I see, thank you for clarifying that! I don't think adding an interaction to a Master Component is supported at the moment. However, I'll go ahead and pass this feedback to our Support team, so they can have a closer look and potentially log this suggestion. Please keep an eye out for an email from our team soon!

Yes, Shaina Torgerson.

Please add my interest for the feature request mentioned above - to allow for multiple states in Studio components, and inform me when this function has been created.

Hi Edward,

Thank so much for clearing that up for us!

At this point, I'm going to open a Support ticket to get your vote added to develop the ability to create multiple states components in Studio. So keep your eyes open for an email coming your way regarding this.

Also, if you are curious what we have been working on in Studio, feel free to check out our release notes here: https://support.invisionapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035669071#studio

Hope you have a great rest of the day!

Take care,

Mike
