Can't I use prototype link on nested symbols?

Can't I use prototype link on nested symbols?

There is no response in the preview.

Made the nav bar a nested symbol.

I set a link to a symbol inside the navigation bar but nothing happens.

I created a nav bar containing nested symbols.

I set the '+' icon symbol to go to page 3 and the '<Parent Title' symbol to go to page 1 on the symbol page.

And back to the work screen, I changed the symbol to '+' icon in overrides.

But In the preview, click the + icon to go to page 1.

Probably because of the parent title icon.

It seems that the overrides do not recognize the symbol change.

This problem works if I used the 'Link', which is a basic sketch feature.

Can't I use craft prototype link on nested symbols?

Hi Songyi,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in Community! It appears as if you have run into a recently requested feature that we're now tracking interest for.

We're currently tracking interest for the ability to link hotspots from nested symbols. If that sounds like the functionality you're looking for, please let me know and I will add your feedback to this feature request. If this potential feature won't solve your issue, please elaborate on what you're looking to do.

Look forward to hearing back,

Shaina

@Shaina

Hi Shaina.

Thanks for reply

I'm glad to hear that you are interested in the features I inquired about. Isn't this a bug?

The function I want is explained in my inquiry.

1. I created a nav bar containing nested symbols. (Default : ‘< Parent’ symbol)

2. I set up the “< Parent" symbol to move to Artboard '1page'. in a symbol page.

3. I set up the “+” icon symbol to move to Artboard ‘3page'. in a symbol page

4. I came back to the work page and checked 'Parent symbol' in the Overrides. And when i check this in Preview, click to move to 1 page.

5. I changed from Overrides to '+' symbol. The purple line points to '3page' so I thought it would work. But, click in Preview to go to '1page'!!!.

The purple line was pointing correctly, so I thought this was a bug.

And when I saw the note on this link, I thought the bug was clear.  https://support.invisionapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004492663

In the last line of the link, it says 'Note: Hotspots are applied to all instances of the symbol—even those with overlords.' But I wonder why not. Is this note a different explanation? Isn't it Nested Symbol?

If I change the symbol in Nested Symbols from Overrides, I hope the hotspots set in the changed symbol will be connected.

It's not working at the moment. So now I change the symbol in Overrides and set the link on top of it with a transparent button.

This doesn't mean using a symbol. It's stupid.

And that's perfectly possible on 'Link' in 'Sketch'.

But because I use 'invision', I really need this function in Craft.

+ I wonder if the 'data' problem I inquired about is being solved. I think it takes too much time.

+ And is there any way to upload all of the file's art boards at once when syncing?

Cheers.

Hi Songyi,

At this point, I would like our Support team to take a closer look at this for you. They will be able to test with the file you're encountering this issue with and determine whether this issue is related to the feature request I had mentioned, or a known issue being investigated by our Engineering team.

As far as the article you had mentioned, I think there may be some confusion here. Nested symbols are different than overrides:

  1. Nested symbols are essentially a symbol within a symbol like as displayed below:
  2. Overrides, on the other hand, can be found on the Symbols tab, and are changed via the Overrides section on the right-hand side. These are what you have displayed in your screenshots.

Please let me know if you have any outstanding questions about the difference between nested symbols and overrides.

Additionally, I wanted to address your final questions at the end of your post:

  1. I wonder if the 'data' problem I inquired about is being solved. I think it takes too much time.
I believe that you're referring to the issue that you brought up in your other post here. I can assure you that our team is continuing to work on a solution for this issue. I brought this up with the relevant Product Manager today and he mentioned that they are planning to release a fix soon. Your Support agent will be sure to update you as soon as a fix has been released.
  2. And is there any way to upload all of the file's art boards at once when syncing?
Yes, this is possible! In order to sync all of your artboards, simply select PUBLISH "All artboards on page" in the Craft publishing modal as seen below:

Please let me know if you have any issues with getting this to work.

Hope that helps answer all of your questions! I will open a ticket for you on your behalf including all of the details that you have in this post. One of our Support agents will be reaching out shortly with some follow up questions for troubleshooting.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any additional questions.

Best,

Shaina

Hi Shaina

I'm sorry if there was any confusion.

If you look at the screenshot of my comments, you'll understand.

i know Nested symbols are different than override.

I made the Nav bar Symbols and put the symbol icon inside the Nav bar. (= Nested symbol)

Then, after Nav bar was selected, the symbol icon was replaced with another symbol icon in Override.

I sent a question because it did not change to a link on the changed symbol icon (replied using Override).

Cheers.
