What's the best way to annotate?

I love invision and I need to pass along sketch files (wireframes) to developers with annotated functionality. Someone had suggested that I comment or note on the pieces of my invision prototype. However, This could get repetitive and inaccurate. Any suggestions how I might do this? Does invision have some hard-to-find "create annotations" button I could use? ;)

I DONT WANT TO DO IT ALL MANUALLY and make some ungodly pdf that a dev will likely request.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Hey Vicki!

I'm sorry for the frustration here. We do offer Tours. It's worth checking out!

Shaina, our usual Community Moderator, also posted on a relevant Community thread recently. Check that out here.

Hi Vicki!

I have used several tools to handle this in the past. Here are those three:

1. I use Inspect and make comments on each design as needed. This way developers can get code, assets, and design comments in one place, as well as see the prototype working.

2. Zeplin - free for one project! It is very similar to Inspect. Some teams I work with simply prefer this over Inspect.

3. For whatever ticketing tool your developers use (e.g. Jira, Trello, Redmine), you could leave comments on each task. A typical note would be:

  • Step one (URL to appropriate prototype page): After user X taps on this button, swipe to the left to get to Step 2.
  • Step two (URL): On this page User X may check the box, but if they don't, move to this page (URL).

Option 3 can get since you're separating the notes from the design itself, but it does work well for some teams.

Hope this helped!
Caitlin
