InVision Projects?

Hi,

I am a bit new to InVision.

I was wondering why I can't create new projects in the project list? I wanted to create say Project A, and have all prototypes, boards etc existing under one project but I can't find a way to do that. All I see is that everything has to be in one project under my company name which is a total mess.

I hope someone here can give me some guidance.

Thanks!

Hi Filip

Thanks for reaching out and appreciate the post.

What InVision plan are you or your company using?

Unfortunately, you can only have one project "My Project" which is the main account but if you are on a team plan then the following will be useful in terms of filtering.

Within the following article there is a section called View personal or team prototypes. This is extremely useful to filter all artefact within the project.

If the above is not helpful you will see a FAVOURITES (link to article) tab within the project menu section following FREEHANDS. You can favourite project artefacts so when you click on the FAVOURITES tab only those project artefacts your favourited will be in view. This may be the best option to assist with the chaos.

Let me know if any of this was helpful. Thanks again.

Stay awesome!

Thanks Michéle (Mikele),

Wow, I can't help but say I don't get it how you guys work with InVision then when you have many projects running on a team, it will be a total mess. This sounds like such a simple yet incredibly useful component to organizing projects. I have seen mention of Spaces two years ago, and that's still not done?

As a designer I like to keep my projects very organized and grouped, really disappointed that InVision makes it so unorganized, after all these years.

Hi Filip,

We completely understand the frustration of trying to keep projects organized in InVision Cloud, and have heard similar feedback from users across the board.  I do have some exciting news for you regarding organizing projects. As you mentioned our Spaces feature, which includes the ability to organize projects into groups/categories, is on its way!

Although we cannot confirm the ETA as to when you would be able to access it just yet, for more information about InVision V7 (which includes this feature) please sign up for updates here. Stay tuned for more information about the new features coming out soon.

In the meantime, I suggest reviewing our Dashboard & Organization article for an overview on how projects are currently organized in the Cloud. At this time, many users use the sections to keep their projects organized. To learn more about this feature, check out the article, How can I organize my screens into sections?

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any follow up questions or feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share the challenges that you're facing with organization at this time, and hope to have some good news for you soon.

Have a great day,

Shaina

Hi Shaina Torgerson, InVision Employee

Thank you for reply. I am very much looking forward to this feature. I work on many projects in quick succession with different group of people. Being able to organize them in groups/folders would help tremendously, partifcualy when it comes to different inVision files like boards and prototypes.

I have already signed up for early access, thank you for mentioning it.

As for the articles you shared, I think it would be great to offer the 'new section' divider on the project page too, so we can divide projects in sections, not only within prototypes.

Regards,
Fil

Thanks for following up, Fil. Glad to hear that those articles helped out!

We are currently tracking a feature request to allow users to organize projects into folders. However, your suggestion to "offer the 'new section' divider on the project page too, so we can divide projects in sections, not only within prototypes", will be covered by Spaces.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can help shed some light up. Hope this all helps.

Have a wonderful day,

Shaina

Hi Filip,

“have all prototypes, boards etc existing under one project”

If this is one of your team requirements, in the upcoming move from InVision v.6 to v.7 the 'Spaces' feature > https://support.invisionapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003504231-InVision-Cloud-V7-What-are-spaces- - will be introduced which looks to do exactly what you are looking to do.

I don't think there is a set timescale for Spaces to be rolled out to all accounts but is is currently being trialed by certain accounts so keep an eye on the usual channels for when it is more widely available (hopefully soon). Hope this helps.
