The Tesla has an amazing UI for a car dashboard. It's fully touch screen with no actual buttons or knobs inside the car. It's almost Apple in car form. Anyone else have input on what makes a car dashboard UI great or not great?
Really great topic and thanks for sharing on the community. For me, what makes a great dashboard UI is one that is completely intuitive. Where the elements just make sense off the bat. Also, and this is one that I personally love. A dashboard UI that has no limits. One that embraces you as a person. What do I mean by that? For instance, the new Mercedes Benz models allow you to completely integrate with the apps that you use on your smartphone into the car i.e. apps that you use frequently like Spotify, Google Maps etc can be integrated into the car. Even the ability to save your car preferences so as soon as you sit into the vehicle it goes into your preferences. This is amazing!
In essence, I just love intuitive and extremely simple dashboards that are not cumbersome and scream sophistication. One that comes to mind which I have had the privilege of using is the new Range Rover Velar. Not only is the user interface within the vehicle amazing but the car as a whole is Design marvel.
I have also seen some of the BMW concepts that have been showing for the newer model but some are really pushed too far I think.
What other vehicles have you seen that come to mind in regards to this topic?
I'm really here for the carplay and android autos of the world (along with tesla). It really seems like car manufcaturers can't figure out what the hell theyre doing in terms of UI.
