Invision is not displaying text styles in inspect for nested text within symbols.
Are you referring to your Sketch text style names? At the moment, it's not possible to view the name of a Sketch style in Inspect. However, this is something that our Product team is currently tracking interest for.
If this is what you're referring to, please let me know and I would be happy to open a ticket on your behalf to track your interest.
Look forward to hearing back,
This is a very crucial aspect of how our engineering teams consume our designs and ensure the text elements align to our defined text style names within our libraries. Due to the lack of this feature, we are using a competitor of yours that actually does support carrying over Sketch Text Style names. We will be evaluating our tool suite soon and this is a key feature that is a must-have for our organization.
Sorry to hear that we're missing the mark here for you and your team, Patrick! I'm happy to open a ticket on your behalf to track your interest for this feature request. Please keep an eye out for a message confirming that we've formally tracked your feedback.
In the meantime, please let me know if if there's anything else I can help you with!
Have a wonderful day,
If anybody else would like to add their feedback about this potential feature, please fill out a ticket with Support here detailing the feature you are looking for.
I strongly second what Patrick Hansen mentioned above. Our product teams at P&G are utilizing Invision's Inspect because we are paying for Invision Enterprise. I have mentioned this lacking feature to our client manager many times and haven't seen a change to implement this feature, a simple Sketch API call to reveal the Text Styles AND Layer Styles, which competitors like Zeplin have had available for years. This addition alone would save our designers and engineers hours of headaches and miscommunication and make our efforts in creating design systems to maintain consistency and improve design <> dev communication even worth it. Our current arduous work around is to rename every layer in our design to reflect any Text or Layer Styles present isn't scalable and a huge waste of the designers time, when they have already spent the time to implement a system of styles.I wonder if the reason for Invision to not add these native Sketch integrations into Invision Inspect is to push users to use the Invision DSM, which its styles are supported in Inspect. All native Sketch features should be supported and allow users to choose their method of systemizing their design.I really hope Invision makes the effort to add simple, useful integrations like this to stay up to speed with Sketch or risk loosing clients for alternative more integrated.
We really appreciate the time you've taken to provide such detailed feedback on this issue! We agree that all of these improvements are equally important and would help save time for your entire team.
The Engineering team is aware of the issue but we prioritize issues based on the scope and impact of the issue. For that reason, we don’t have an ETA for a fix to share at this time. However, this is an issue that I will be raising in the soonest Product meetings.
I also noticed that you have opened a ticket with our Support team providing some more related feedback. I have added your notes from here in Community to your open ticket with Support. Somebody from our team will be reaching out on your ticket as soon as they have a chance to review.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can help out with, or if there's any other feedback you'd like me to share with our Product Managers on this topic.
Thank you Shaina and team for this response. I’m very excited for how this and the other features I mention in the support ticket could enable our teams to communicate better and deliver faster!
Of course, Joey! Glad we could help.
If there's anything else we can do for you in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out.
