SVGs broken

My Studio version - Version 1.15.0

Any SVG dragged into Studio has recently appearing as open/broken paths (especially FontAwesome SVGs). This is totally inconvenient. I have exited/entered the program numerous times to find this is still happening.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I have copied and pasted the same SVGs into competitor products and they work smoothly.

Hey is there any news about this topic?  Im facing the same problem as posted above. I use illustrator files, when I import them to invision the svg format is broken. I wil have to migrate all the invision files to XD. Its a pity because Invision is a very interesting tool.

This has been a major issue for my team. Even if you import SVG's that where created in Studio it will fall apart. Noun Project's desktop apps drag and drop won't work either (it use to!).
After a lot of trial and error the only work around I have found is to drop the files into Sketch, then copy paste into Studio. It works 90% of the time, in some cases I have had to rebuild the icons (simplify the combing of shapes/paths). It's a flaky workflow, but it works.

Hope this helps.

Hi Michéle,

I can't see any voting options on the link provided. Please can you help?

Like many other people here, I would like to continue exploring Studio as it almost seems a worthy competitor to Adobe XD. However, in light of this issue, it is falling short of victory. This issue should be upvoted as much as possible as it seems that the technical team don't seem to think that it's a problem.

Regards

Anthony.

I doesn't inspire me with confidence. Unless there is an expedient fix, I'll be returning to Adobe XD once more. I regularly use SVGs/imported vector graphics from Illustrator in my designs so quite frankly, it's a deal-breaker if they don't render accurately in Studio.

I was totally disappointed, because it's very very basic feature that Invision team must have identified before only.

Hi,

As the original poster of this issue almost 4 months ago, I will be phasing out of using Invision - a major reason being the SVGs are still broken.

Hey everyone,

I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to post about how this issue is continuing to affect their teams and work. We’re so sorry for the long wait getting this issue fixed, and we understand that it can be a blocker.

An update that we’re able to publicly provide is that we have dedicated a team of three engineers currently working on this initiative and focused on the overall experience importing and exporting SVGs. I’ve been discussing this thread with the Studio Product Managers each week to keep them in the loop on how greatly this is affecting our users, and will continue to advocate for you all in these weekly meetings.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out providing more feedback and reports around this issue. We appreciate every one of you being transparent about the affects of this issue on your teams.

Best,

Shaina

I'm trying to export an image as an SVG and getting a similar issue, the image exports with some of the pieces moved around. Exporting as png works fine. please get this fixed ASAP. SVG's are crucial to anyone using this tool.  This should be a top priority as anyone with this issue will quickly move platforms.

Just joining in to show more support for the fix need.

It makes REALLY HARD to check colors and shades of icons, for example, if their vectors come broken. I'm having to test colors and sizes with simpler shapes (made directly in Studio) and only when satisfied with the result, I can export icons in color from Illustrator. Counter productive, almost like working 5+ years ago!

It's a real shame. I had high-hopes for InVision Studio. In the meantime, I'm trying an alternative application (which works perfectly fine with svgs and curved vectors imported/copied and pasted from other vector apps).

Still the issue is not fixed its been soo long time that the issue is been identified by the users. The team is been not taking the basic design standards in to consideration while developing the tool.

I've been using Invision Studio for several months now and see not that the SVG issue still hasn't been fixed despite it being raise several times.

It looks like it is a Windows and Mac issue and the only work around appears to be to import files into Sketch then import them into Invision which is a hassle.

Considering that the Development team and Support doesn't see this as a major issue, has anyone else found any other software or online tools that allow collaboration and support SVGs?

@Adrian Kennedy - For presentable prototypes (with workable SVGs) and live collaboration, my team has moved over to Figma.

@Adrian Kennedy - I'm not sure it it's collaboration capabilities are good, but I had to revert back to using Adobe XD, even though it also misses a lot of features, but at least I can have a workflow without the lack of basic functionality.

It's a shame, because Studio have A LOT of better solutions for a many stuff, but not being able to work with vectors simply halts any project.

I tried a free trial of Affinity Designer while this SVG charade was going on and I was pleasantly surprised. It combines an excellent blend of vector and bitmap tools (i.e. like a love-child of Illustrator and Photoshop, but without the bloat and extortionate fees). XD feels too basic while Sketch has a ridiculous licensing model, so I've completely switched over to Affinity Designer for screen design work. It doesn't have any prototyping functions so you'll still need to fall back on something like InVision/Figma, etc. for that.

Hi Aafaque,

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble importing your SVG files to Studio.

To help us look into this, would you be able to tell us how you're importing the SVG files to Studio and could you show us a screenshot of your SVGs in Studio?

Looking forward to your reply!

Best,
Ella

Hello all,

Thanks again for providing extensive feedback for our Studio team as they worked to resolve the issues with SVGs. We hope that you are now having a much smoother experience with importing SVGs since Stephanie's update.

To further provide clarity on SVGs for everyone, our documentation team has put together this handy help article. Check it out here: Studio compatibility with imported SVG files.

Please note that this the information provided in this article applied to all SVGs, not just symbols, imported from anywhere. If you continue to run into issues or have any follow up questions, please let us know.

Have a great day!

Shaina
