SVGs broken

My Studio version - Version 1.15.0

Any SVG dragged into Studio has recently appearing as open/broken paths (especially FontAwesome SVGs). This is totally inconvenient. I have exited/entered the program numerous times to find this is still happening.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I have copied and pasted the same SVGs into competitor products and they work smoothly.

Hi everyone!

My name is Stephanie, and I’m a product manager on the Studio team. I want to thank you first for your ongoing feedback on our SVG import experience and second for your continued patience as we worked to solidify this feature-set. SVG import is such a critical piece of the design workflow, and we are really excited to now have made tremendous strides in this area. Over the last few releases (release notes here), we’ve added new SVG features such as the ability to import text, added support for many additional SVG filters, and fixed countless bugs.

The SVG import experience should now feel solid, and we truly couldn’t have resolved these major pain points without the voices of you all and the rest of the community. Please give SVG import another try, and I’d love to hear any additional feedback or questions you may have!

All the best,

Stephanie and the Studio team

Hi Melissa

Thanks for reaching out. This is a strange problem.

Can I ask, are you using the Mac or Windows version of Studio?
Can you send me a screenshot of your About Studio details?

Regards,

As you can see the vectors are incomplete/borken and this happens as soon as I drag them across.

I just downloaded a newer version of Font Awesome icons and they are also breaking when dragged into Studio.

Hi Melissa

Thanks for all this detail and apologies for the inconvenience this is causing you.

Can I ask that you share these assets you are trying to import so I am able to test on my side?

You can add the shareable link with the reply post.

This will assist me greatly.

Thank you!

Hello Michéle,

Here is the link of the Font Awesome SVG's that are breaking.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8hni27kww6x4g7o/AACYPeKAuAEsSbvXhWm299c1a?dl=0

This is the latest Font Awesome package. Prior to this, I was using an older version. Both SVG packages break when a SVG is dragged across to Studio.

Hi Michéle,

Thanks for the prompt response. Yes it is a shame it has been doing this only for a week or so. So I am unsure if this is the result of an Invision Studio update or not.

Looking forward to a resolution soon, thanks for logging it :)

I am also experiencing the same exact issue where paths copied in from files or other applications (such as Adobe Illustrator) are clipping. I am on Mac OS 10.14.3 running the latest version of Studio.

This is a very simple shape in illustrator.

When saved to an SVG and pulled in to Studio or when I simply copy the path in Illustrator and paste it in Studio, I get the following:

A work around is to open the icon in Sketch and then copy and paste into Invision Studio.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for reaching out on this thread. I understand how frustrating it is to wait for a fix to an issue. The Engineering team is aware of the issue but we prioritize issues based on the scope and impact of the issue. For that reason, we don’t have an immediate fix available. However, this is an issue that I will be raising in the soonest Product meetings.

In the meantime, I will open a ticket on your behalf with our Support team who will being keeping you updated on the resolution to this bug. Please keep an eye out for an email with some follow up questions.

Thanks for bearing with us,
Shaina

Hi..

I'm facing the exactly same issue as posted. Whenever I try to use SVG icons, the icons are either broken or distorted. I am on Window 10 Pro and using Invision version 1.18.0

I don't know, SVGs are a very heavy part of prototyping. Surely there will be a fix soon?

I totally agree with Melissa. This is only reason I have not been able to use Invision..If this does not have a huge impact... I'm even more scared to use Invision since it seems there is a bigger problem? Please help. I need to use the timeline!

Hi Shaina,

So I am using the latest version of invision, with macOS Mojave 10.14.6.

Svg opens broken. As mentioned above.

We were migrating everything here at the skecth company to invision. But due to this problem with svg.

We decided to stop migration until this problem is resolved.

I've seen that since 2018 invision has been experiencing problems with svg on macOS.

Thanks for the answer

I have just experienced the same problem. After months of using Adobe XD, I thought I'd give InVision studio a go to do some freelance work. Upon importing an SVG (created in Adobe Illustrator), I have noticed that Studio is unable to preserve all bezier curves in the imported SVG. Instead of a full curve, flat edges are introduced.

From searching for similar issues on Google, I can see that this problem has been evident for quite some time now (almost a year, it seems) and I find it strange that it has not been fixed in the latest update.

I doesn't inspire me with confidence. Unless there is an expedient fix, I'll be returning to Adobe XD once more. I regularly use SVGs/imported vector graphics from Illustrator in my designs so quite frankly, it's a deal-breaker if they don't render accurately in Studio.

Please can you find a solution?

Hi Anthony,

Thanks for taking the time to reach out about this issue, and provide some feedback about its impact on your workflow. Our Studio Product Managers are hard at work finding a solution for this. They are sensitive to the frustration that this is causing for many users of Studio and plan to release a solution for this issue soon.

Part of my job is to raise the concerns of our users with the relevant Product Managers on a weekly basis. I have made our Studio Product Managers aware of the feedback provided in this thread as we receive more reports of the issue each week. As you can see above, Stephanie Shaw, one of our Studio Product Managers, chimed in on this thread and stated that:

| Due to the disruptive nature of these issues, our team has prioritized an effort to improve the overall SVG import and export experience. This will be incrementally delivered over the coming months.

This statement continues to hold true and she has been providing us with updates on the issue each week. We plan to have a fix released soon, and hope that you will give us another shot when that time comes!

I will open a ticket on your behalf to track your incident for our Support and Product team to review. Please keep an eye out from one of our Support agents soon.

Have a wonderful day,

Shaina
