ALL hotspots insist on maintaining scroll position?!

My prototype previews fine within InVision App on my desktop machine.

However, when visiting the prototype link on my mobile (Samsung S9 with Chrome 74.0.3729.157), ALL hotspots behave as if I've checked 'maintain scroll position' for them (I haven't).

Very strange, has anyone else experienced this behaviour, or knows of a fix?

It's not ideal for mobile testing. Thanks in advance!

UPDATE

The issue reported here where scroll position is maintained when clicking a hotspot even though "Maintain scroll position after click" setting is not selected when viewing the prototype in mobile browsers. Our Engineering team has recently released a fix for this issue and we can confirm the issue is now resolved. Please check your prototype and let us know if you notice any further issues, we'll look into it immediately.

Thanks very much for your patience while we try to resolve this issue. Feel free to let us know if there's anything else we can assist with.

I should say, originally the prototype was created with Sketch (and Craft).

I've tried re-creating the hotspots (without 'maintain scroll position' checked) within InVision Studio directly and the problem persists.

Thanks

Hi Naimesh,

Thank you for reaching out to us! So sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your prototype's transitions maintaining scroll position when viewing on mobile. I understand this kind of issue can be really frustrating!

Could you send us a few more details so that we can look into this?:

  1. What version of mobile OS (e.g. Android 9.0) are you on?
  2. Are you viewing the prototype via the InVision mobile app or browser? If so, can you tell me the app’s version number? You can find this by tapping your profile in the lower right area of the screen. The version number should display at the bottom of the profile screen.

Once we have those details, we can start investigating. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Best,

Shaina

Same issue too though the inverse - I don’t even mind if just takes you to the top of page but my hotspots drop me at the footer of type neighbouring screen ... it’s soo annoying

Thank you both for taking the time to reach out here in Community. I noticed that you also both have opened tickets with our Support team on this issue.

I have left notes in each of your tickets notifying your Support agents of your comments here. Please keep an eye out for an email from our Support agents on this issue.

After working with our Support team, several of the users in this thread were found to be encountering a known issue that our Engineering team is currently investigating where the scroll position is maintained while "Maintain scroll position after click" is not selected when viewing the prototype in Android mobile browser. At the time, the only workaround we can suggest is to preview your prototype in the InVision Android app.

For anybody else running into this issue, please be sure to reach out to our Support team to report what you're experiencing. Hope this helps!

Best,

Shaina

I'm having similar problems as well. Prototype is maintaining scroll position on mobile (Android and iOS browsers) when I don't have that option checked.

Hi Nannearl,

It sounds like you might be encountering a known issue that our Engineering team is currently investigating. To be sure, can you please provide the following information?:

  1. What model device (e.g. iPhone X, Google Pixel 2, etc.) have you been testing on currently?
  2. What version of mobile OS (e.g. iOS 11.3, Android 9.0, etc.) are you on?
  3. What mobile browsers have you tried so far?

Once we have those details, we’ll pass this along to our team in the next tier of support so they can help get this sorted.

Best,

Shaina

Hi Nannearl,

I noticed that you attempted to post by replying to our Community email notification with the following:

  • Hi, Sure. I’ve tested it on my iPhone7 Plus (software version 13.1.2) in the Safari browser. We’ve also had testers on Android devices as well (not sure of their specifics). Thanks!
    Best, Nannearl

Thanks for providing that information! I will open a ticket on your behalf with our Support team so that they can take a closer look at this. Please look out for an email from one of our Support agents soon.

Hi we are also having the same problem with our invision prototypes.
We have no problems with Safari on Mobile, nor on desktop. But Android browsers set the linked screen to the scroll position of the former.
We have not select to save the scroll position (As the others also mentioned)

This actually happens on several different Android phones.

As I see you know about this problem since May, is there any solution in the pipeline?

We do remote usertest and can't always ask the candidates to install the invision app.

Best,
Ozan

Having the same problem. Not sure why. The prototype works fine on desktop, but when viewing on web on mobile device, it maintains the scroll position from page to page no matter what (both on Chrome and Safari). "Maintain scroll position" is not checked. We are going to have to call off test because of this. Not ideal.

We're having the exact same issue. Seeing it on both safari on an iphone 7+ with iOS 13.2.3, as well as Chrome on Android. This is really problematic for conducting user testing. Any update on when there will be a fix?

Are there any updates on this topic? the original post is already from Mai 2019 - looks there will be no solution for this. the problem still persists, which makes some prototypes unusable for UX testing.

Hi Mathias!

I'm so sorry that you're also affected by the issue where your scroll position is maintained even when that setting is switched off for a hotspot. Can you please provide us with a few more details:

  1. What model device (e.g. iPhone X) are you using?
  2. Can you please confirm the version numbers of your mobile browser apps where you're experiencing this issue?

Thanks so much!

Monika

Hi Monika,

iPhone X

Safari on iOS is part of the mobile operating System - it's not possible to install other version than those that are coming with iOS 13.2 (which is the latest iOS version at the moment).

As far as I know iOS forces other browsers (e.g. chrome, edge, ...) to use the own safari WebKit rendering engine...
