Inspect not working

Hi, for some reason my shapes are not showing up in inspect mode. Can you help me please? I will attach a screenshot, thanks!

In this screenshot, you can see that I have selected the "Shop Now" button (this is not a symbol in Sketch); the text information is available but not the shape/rectangle information:

Hi Amanda,

Sorry to hear you are having issues with Inspect after uploading your content from Sketch.  I can completely understand how this can cause disruptions in your day to day work.  I appreciate all the information and screenshot provided in your post! In order to determine what might be causing this issue, can you please provide the following additional information?:

     1. What version of Sketch are you using?
     2. What version of Craft Manager are you running?
     3. What version of the Craft Sync + Prototype plugin are you running?
     4. Can you please provide a screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview?

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

No problem:

1. Sketch Version 53.2

2. Craft Manager Version 1.0.57

3. Sync + Prototype Version - where do I find this?

4. Here is my screenshot for "About this Mac":

Hi Amanda,

I do see that you are using a rather out of date Craft Manager.  We are currently on version 1.0.77.  Would you mind updating and re-syncing your project to see if that helps?

The simplest way to update is to select the 'C' in your Menu bar, and then select the Gift icon in the right corner near the Gear icon.

To check the current production version numbers and for help updating or finding the Craft tool versions you have installed, please read this guide.

Looking forward to your reply.

Cheers,

Shaina

Thanks for the quick response,

It looks like there is a discrepancy between the versions of my craft manager application and the craft plugin in sketch, here are some screenshots to help show the difference (.77 in app, .57 in sketch plugin), would this be the cause of the inspect mode error?

Hi Amanda,

Yes, that could definitely be the cause of the issue you're seeing in Inspect mode. Please update Craft for Sketch and resync the prototype you're having issues with.

To update Craft Manager and ensure all sub plugins fully update as expected:

     1. Close out of Sketch completely (⌘+Q).
     2. Click into the "C" in your status bar.
     3. Click the gear icon in the Craft modal upper right corner.
     4. Select the Preferences option from the menu.

     5. Check the box "Automatically update plugins."
     6. Click the "check for updates link."
     6. Follow all modal and dialogue prompts.
     7. Once the Craft update is complete, click on the gear icon again and this time select the "Quit" option.
     8. Relaunch Craft Manager from your Applications folder.
     9. Attempt to log in
    10. Attempt to sync a file via Craft from Sketch.

Please let me know if you continue to see errors after updating Craft for Sketch, or if you continue to see version 1.0.57 in your Sketch plugins.

Hope this helps!

Shaina

I'm sorry but I have followed all of your steps and I have even tried to reinstall new plugins/apps and the problem is still occurring and the versions still seem to be different in sketch vs. craft manager.

Do you have any other suggestions? My entire team is having this issue, thank you.

Hi Amanda,

I apologize for the oversight here. After looking more closely into the behavior you're seeing where versions show different numbers in the Sketch plugins panel versus the Craft panel, it appears as if this is the expected behavior and you're on the most up-to-date version. Since the Plugin and Craft Manager are different “tools” they will display different versions. Sorry for the confusion there.

I appreciate you taking the time to update and reinstall. Since this is happening for more people on your team, I would like for our Support team to do some further troubleshooting, and will open a ticket on your behalf. Please look for an email from our Support team soon.

I apologize for any disruption in your workflow that this is causing for you and your team! Look forward to getting you some answers soon.

Best,

Shaina

Hi Brooke,

Sorry to hear that you're running into a similar issue. It appears as if the issue resolved for Amanda! Can you please confirm the following information?:

     1. What version of Sketch are you using?
     2. What version of Craft Manager are you running?
     3. What version of the Craft Sync + Prototype plugin are you running?
     4. Can you please provide a screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview?
     5. Just to rule it out, if you load your project in an incognito/private window, does Inspect show this object correctly?

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

Hi all.

Have the same issue (I suppose).

On my old project Inspect is not working, showing the "Sync your source files" screen. I've tried to resync all artboards, doing some minor updates to see, that changes are uploaded correctly. In all new projects inspect works correctly.

Project ID with inspect issue: 17422953

  1. Sketch v56.3
  2. Craft Manager v1.0.85
  3. Craft Sync plugin v1.0.59

Hi Sergii,

Thanks for providing all of those details for us to look into! I apologize for the issue you're running into with viewing your Inspect data, and want to help you get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.

Just to rule it out, if you load your project in an incognito/private window, does Inspect show this object correctly?

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

If I load this project in incognito mode in Chrome and click on inspect I see button wich redirects to https://www.invisionapp.com/feature/inspect

Other projects are available for inspect even in incognito after login.

Hi Sergii,

Can you please provide a screencast or screenshot of exactly what you're seeing in both incognito mode and on your browser regularly? Also, can you provide a screencast or screenshot showing the project you're having issues with versus projects that are available?

So sorry for the back and forth. I just want to make sure that I'm understanding the issues you're facing correctly.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

Thank you for providing those details, Antonia! I'd like to check in on a few more things before having our Support team troubleshoot further. Can you please provide answers to the following questions?:

  1. Inspect is only available for projects that have been either synced via Craft from Sketch or Photoshop, or published from our design tool, Studio. Screens uploaded directly via the web app will not include Inspect data. Can you please confirm if your prototype was uploaded to InVision in one of these ways?
         | I'm assuming that you synced a Sketch file using Craft Sync given the details you've provided above, but I just want to be sure.
  2. Do you know if this Project or if any of these screens that aren't giving you access to Inspect were ever duplicated at any point?
  3. Could you please confirm your browser details by going to http://www.whatsmybrowser.org/, clicking “Copy”, and pasting the link it gives you into your reply?

Look forward to hearing back again,

Shaina

Hi my Inspect mode is not working for some screens as well.

1. What version of Sketch are you using?
67.2

     2. What version of Craft Manager are you running?
Latest, 1.0.99

     3. What version of the Craft Sync + Prototype plugin are you running?
How is it different from the one above. If it is, where to look the number up?

     4. Can you please provide a screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview?

4.
This issue is also happening on other users macs and pc (viewers) as well

     5. Just to rule it out, if you load your project in an incognito/private window, does Inspect show this object correctly?
Not in incognito, normal

Hi appliedx Team,

Thanks for taking the time to provide the details you have above. Just as we did with Antonia above, I'd like to check in on a few more things before having our Support team troubleshoot further. Can you please provide answers to the following questions?:

  1. Are you receiving any error messages? Can you please provide a screencast or screenshot(s) showing what's going wrong.
  3. Is this happening with one project in particular or multiple projects?
  4. Do you know if this Project or if any of these screens that aren't giving you access to Inspect were ever duplicated at any point?
  5. Could you please confirm your browser details by going to http://www.whatsmybrowser.org/, clicking “Copy”, and pasting the link it gives you into your reply?
         | I know you mentioned that this is happening on multiple users' computers, but if you could provide one example of the browser and OS details that this issue is happening on, that would be great!

To answer your question to #3, your Craft Manager and Sync plugin versions should be consistent. In the past, these version numbers were separate as Craft Manager and its plugins didn't update simultaneously.

Look forward to hearing back again,

Shaina

Hi Shaina,

This is what we see for the developer mode (screenshot)
Browser Google Chrome Version 84.0.4147.89
Yes, these screens were duplicated from one prototype to another. Although they were updated in the new prototype via Craft after that.
All screens were only uploaded to InVision via Craft at any point.
So far happening only on one project.

Thanks so much for following up with those details, appliedX Team! Since you mentioned duplicating, I want to verify what you are duplicating. Are you duplicating your Sketch file or an already existing InVision Project?

Once I have this information, I will be getting you in touch with a Support agent for some more troubleshooting.

Thanks again,

Shaina

Do you know if this Project or if any of these screens that aren't giving you access to Inspect were ever duplicated at any point?

To eliminate this step, the question above could be more specific.
The screens were duplicated in Invision and moved to another prototype in InVision (basically from drafts to presental). After that they were again updated from Sketch via Craft.

Hey there,

It's Mike from InVision here. Sorry for all the troubles this has caused.

I've been reading over this thread and unfortunately, I don't believe this is expected behavior as duplicated content should indeed be available though Inspect.

At this point, I think it's best we open a ticket on your behalf with our Support team so they can troubleshoot with you internally. Please keep an eye out for an email coming your way here soon.

I apologize for any frustration and disruption that this issue is causing you!

Thanks for hanging in there,

Mike
