Unable to Publish

I noticed Invision Studio is unable to "Publish" if the file contains a larger number of art boards (around 50), and/or if the file is larger than around 5MB.

The progress bars stops on "Sending presentation", then it says: "Something went wrong. Please try again. If the problems persists, try signing out and in again."

I have tried to log out and in again, reinstalled Invision Studio, even changed to a different account. The problem persists.

I'm using Studio version 1.7.0. I had the same issue with version 1.6.

Please help!

Welcome to the community, Kevin!

Sorry you're having Publishing issues. Just want to make sure you are not experiencing the same issue before when you had less artboards?

Looking forward to hearing back,

Lala

Hi Lala.

It was fine when I had less art boards. It happened when I had about 50 art boards, and when the file is large than around 5MB.

Hi Gabriele,

Thanks for reaching out. We would be happy to help! So sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with Studio. When you have a chance, would you mind providing the following information?:

  1. Can you please send a screenshot of the About This Mac overview? (click the Apple icon > About This Mac)
  2. What version of Studio are you running?
  3. Was this Project designed in Studio, or imported from a Sketch file?

These details will help us troubleshoot and take a closer look into what might be going on. Look forward to hearing back from you!

Hey Rasťo,

Thanks for letting us know about this. More importantly, we're terribly sorry to hear you ran into these issues Publishing your Studio file.

To get a better idea why this is happening, could you provide the following information to us:

  • Do you have these same issues if you copy/paste your artboards to a new Studio file, then Publish again?
  • Was this Project created in Studio or in Sketch?
  • Can you connect to a different network (such as your cell network), then Publish again?
  • If you are still getting the "Something went wrong" error, can you please send us a screenshot showing any console errors you are receiving in Studio? You can get these by using the CTRL+Option+I shortcut.

Once we have these details, we should have a better idea why this is happening.

Looking forward to hearing back!

All the best,

Mike

Sorry to hear that you're also running into the issues described above. Thanks for taking the time to try the steps described above.

Before passing this along to our Support team for further investigation, can you please provide some additional information?:

  1. A screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview
  2. Was this Project created in Studio or in Sketch? If Sketch, what version of Sketch are you running?
  3. Since you are still getting the "Something went wrong" error, can you please send us a screenshot showing any console errors you are receiving in Studio? You can get these by using the CTRL+Option+I shortcut.

Look forward to hearing back,

Hi Sean,

So sorry to hear that you're running into some similar issues. To help our Support team determine the source of the issue, and if this is related to a known issue, can you please provide the following details?:

  1. What version of Sketch are you using?
  2. Is the prototype a previously published prototype or is this your first time attempting to publish it?
  3. Are you the owner of the prototype?
  4. Is anyone else having trouble publishing the prototype as well or have you tried to see if it synced successfully with another colleague's account?
  5. Can you also confirm that you signed into Studio using the "Team" tab and entering the domain for your team?

I'm sorry for all the questions, Sean, but I'd love to ensure I have enough information to work with in order to determine what's going on. If you can address the above questions, that would be a great starting point.

Thank you in advance and looking forward to hearing from you soon!

It worked! it was the signing into Studio using the team domain (although i don't have a team domain outside of my personal domain, but it worked)! - thanks!

BUMP-ing this as i am having major issues with uploading anything larger than 2MB since the Planned Maintenance on the 13th June.

support ticket already open with Daniel and Mike - hoping for any communication from Community members experiencing the same issue. surely it can just be me and my colleague here in the UK experiencing this issue

Hi,

I am having the same error above.

After clicking on Publish button, it says 'generating screen thumbnails' and then 'uploading assets' and 'sending prototype'. Then it stops and the error message appears.

I published a prototype before without an error. After some changes on the screen I tried to create another prototype as the second version of the app but it does not publish it.

My mac:

I use Invision Studio Version 1.28.1

I need your help to solve the issue

Thanks in advance,

Gülseda.

Hello everyone, after going through this over and over again, and endless amoutns of trial and error i can confirm that this problem is caused where the .Studio file size is greater than 2MB.
if you create a new Studio file and add images so that its jsut over 2MB you will notice you cant Publish. take a fefw images out so its less than 2MB and it will publish.
The issue is obviously being caused some internal server error somewhere that is limited to 2MB but as yet the team at InVision haven't found out what is causing the issue yet.

One trick I have learned is that, if like you me you are creating artboards with multiple layers of images and you are hiding some layers when you replicate artboards as part of your sequencing, then you need to just delete the hidden image layers, dont just use the hide function. this will help you to reduce your filesize massively, without compromising the design.

unfortunately a lot of my work is intricate UX so i need large numbers of artbaords, all with high numbers of visible image layers so i very quickly hit 2MB

Hi Phillip,

Try to remove all svg files and upload the prototype. If you will be able to succeed then you need to refactor those svgs: simly ungroup them so all shapes will stay on the same level and remove masks.

Every time when I have a problem with publishing it usually relates to svg files. I assume it is well known issue.

thanks Archie will give that a try, although i know that the test files i created that were more than 2MB didn't contain any SVG files.
