Craft not working/showing toolbar

Hi there,

Craft suddenly stopped working and no toolbar is visible. I consistently have problems with Craft disappearing. Normally a removal and fresh install fixes it but not this time. I have restarted and reinstalled many times.

  • Craft version: 1.0.73
  • Sketch version: 52.5
  • MacOS Mojave 10.14
  1. Craft doesn't appear in my 'Plugins > Manage Plugins' menu
  2. I can't toggle options in the Sketch tools list
  3. I can't see the toolbar

Any ideas? deadlines looming!

Thanks,
Martin

    Hi Martin,

Sorry to hear that the Craft toolbar isn't showing up for you in Sketch. Thank you for first taking the time to uninstall and reinstall.

I would like for you to check one more thing. If you click 'Craft' in your top toolbar (in Sketch), and select "Toggle Panel", does the Craft panel then display for you as shown below?:

Look forward to hearing from you,

    Shaina

    @shaina,

I'm experiencing the same issues with craft as Martin. No craft toolbar, no craft in plugins manager or in menu next to the plugins dropdown. I've restarted sketch multiple times, reinstalled craft manager and restarted my mac. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

Sorry to hear that you're also running into this issue. Can you please check the following for me?:

         1. What version of Craft Manager are you running?
         2. Could you please open Sketch and click "Plugins" in your top (Sketch) toolbar, and then click "Toggle Craft", as seen below. Are you then able to display the Craft panel?

Look forward to hearing from you,

    Shaina

    Shaina,

Thanks for following up, craft wasn't showing in my plugins. When, I went to craft manager, it said sketch tools was "up to date" with Craft version: 1.0.73. I was able to fix the issue by going to the finder and searching for CraftManager, which also found an older CraftInstaller. I double clicked on the installer which reinstalled an older version of craft. After restarting Sketch, the toolbar and plugins worked. Then I went to craft manager and updated to version to 1.0.73. Not sure if this was the best way to fix the issue, but it worked. Hopefully this might help someone else.

    Hi Shaina,

Thanks for responding. I don't actually see the word Craft in the Sketch menu. Although the Craft icon is in the top right menu so I do have it installed. It's not in my plugin menu either. (see screenshots)

If Jeff's solution is a possible fix (thanks Jeff) - am I able to source an old version of Craft Manager somewhere?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Martin,

Try doing a search on your computer for "CraftInstaller", it's possible you have an older version already on your computer when you download craft. That's what worked for me.

I'm having this same issue. I do not have "CraftInstaller" on my machine. The only other thing to add is when I look in Craft Manager -> Preferences to Uninstall it, it says it is not installed? Currently running Sketch 52.5 and Craft Manager 1.0.73

    Hi Jeff,

Sorry to hear that you're also running into this issue. Can you please attempt the following steps and let me know if you continue to have issues?:

         1. Close CraftManager completely
         2. In Finder, go to *Go > Go to Folder*
         3. Type ~/Library/Application Support/
         4. Locate the folder called “CraftManager” and delete this folder entirely
         5. Delete Craft installation files from the downloads folder
         6. Empty the trash
         7. Restart CraftManager and then go back to preferences and try the install of the plugins for Sketch again

Hope this helps! Please let me know.

    Best,

    Shaina

    Hi Shaina -

Unfortunately I didn't see your note prior to me uninstalling/reinstalling Sketch and Craft but in addition to my actions I did follow your directions as well and everything is back up and running!  I have a hunch your instructions may of been the secret as I had tried the uninstall yesterday with no success. Thank you!
