Setting Password for Studio Prototype

I am having difficulty finding the settings for a prototype I created in Studio. I need a password-protected version of it to share with a client. Anyone done this? Thanks!

Hi Matt,

I'm afraid that password protecting share links for Studio prototypes is not currently available. However, it is a feature request that our Product team is tracking interest in.

I noticed that you have already opened a ticket with our Support team. If this is the feature you're looking for, I'm happy to link up your ticket with the appropriate feature request that we're tracking. Please let me know if this is what you'd like.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

If anybody else would like to add their feedback about this potential feature, please fill out a ticket with Support here detailing the feature you are looking for.

Is there a workaround for this or ETA on when it'll be available?

Hi Sam,

I'm sorry, but we don't have a workaround at this time, nor are we able to provide a concrete date for when this functionality will be available. However, I'm happy to open a ticket on your behalf to track your vote for this feature. This will ensure that you will be notified of any updates as we have them. Please look for a message confirming your vote soon.

Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding. I apologize for any inconvenience that this is causing for you in the meantime.

Have a wonderful day,

Shaina

I too am in need of a password protection of Studio prototypes. I cannot use it within my organization without a way to lock it down. Are the links published from Studio public or do you need to be logged into InVision to see them?

Thanks! Looking forward to this being integrated into the product. Will certainly switch to Studio from Sketch and Axure if done.

Hi Michael,

Thank you very much for adding your feedback about this potential feature here in Community! I will open a ticket on your behalf to track your vote for this feature. Please look for a message confirming your vote shortly.

To answer your question about how Studio share links currently work, anyone with the public link can access your prototype whether or not they're signed into their InVision account.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

Best,

Shaina

Wondering if there is any other way.  sharing prototypes is part of design process to get timely input from our users and stakeholders. How are we expected to share without protecting our IP! More importantly, why are we finding this gap now. I guess, we have no option to wait. Will consider invision studio in the future.

HI Nagi,

Unfortunately, there is no workaround for password protecting Studio prototypes at this time. However, I'm happy to raise this with our Product Team once again. I noticed that you've also opened a ticket with our Support team to add your interest for this. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

We completely understand how frustrating it can be to wait for a feature like this. I'm sorry that I'm unable to provide better news at this time.

Thanks for hanging in there,

Shaina

I think it is very frustrating that you don't offer feature parity across your offerings. When I use InVision Studio I can't share with password. When I use InVision Cloud / Craft, I am very limited regarding the prototyping features. Then there are features in Cloud v6 which are missing in v7 but v7 has some new ones. And again v7 is in the role out phase for a lifetime now. Craft starts in beta with promising features but gets stripped down to the bare minimum for final release and years later, there is no major progress. Sorry, but this is frustrating. But for the time being, this is the only viable solution for our problem that is also certificated for use in our organisation.

The icing on the frustration-cake is your feature request system where you have to create tickets to track interest. This is totally intransparent! Why not do like everybode else and offer a open voting system and give the requests statuses like "under investigation"; "in development", etc.

Sorry for being of-topic here, but what I wanted to say is, I also wan't this feature (and a lot more :( ), so please also track interest for me (because I can't on my own).

Best regards,
Sascha

Hi Sascha,

First, I want to thank you for taking the time to share this detailed and fair feedback regarding the state of our products here at InVision. We completely understand how frustrating it can be to wait for features to be released and issues to be fixed while our Product Teams continue to tackle and reprioritize issues based on their scope and impact. I can assure you that I will be raising your feedback directly with our Studio, Craft, and InVision Cloud Product Managers in my soonest meetings with each of these teams.

While I know there is no ideal answer or solution to provide at this time, do know that we take this kind of feedback very seriously. Below I have addressed each of you concerns that you've raised in your comment above:

  1. Studio Password Protection: As mentioned above, this is a feature we are continuing to track interest for. I will get a ticket opened on your behalf to formally track your need for the ability to password protect Studio prototypes. Please look out for an email confirming that we've done so.
  2. Feature Parity: The lack of feature parity between our products, and specifically InVision Cloud V6 & V7 is something that our teams are very aware of and working to address as we slowly rollout InVision Cloud V7. I want to make sure that we track all of the features you're looking for in V7. That being said, I will be opening a separate ticket on your behalf requesting these feature requests to ensure your feedback gets added to our internal records on each feature. Please look for an email from me shortly requesting this information.
  3. Public Voting for Feature Requests in Community: This is something that we have certainly been considering for some time and fielding feedback on. I greatly appreciate you providing some more insight on this. We strive to be as transparent as possible, and will always provide updates on Community threads as we have them. In the meantime, I will be opening another ticket to track your interest for public voting for feature requests in Community.
  4. Submitting Feature Requests: Please feel free to fill out a ticket with Support here any time you have issues or suggestions - we'll be happy to help you sort through any problems and convey your feedback to the appropriate teams.

We're so sorry to hear that these things have been mounting in frustration for you, and hope to have good news for you in the future! Thanks again for participating in our Community. Please don't hesitate to reach out any time.

Have a wonderful day,

Shaina

Hi Shaina,

thanks for your fast, honest and in depth answer! I think you do a great job on caring for the users voice. With people like you in place I have hope that InVision may tackle these challanges in the hopefully not so far future. Because in the end I think it's a great product that can't fully embrace its potential yet. If people like me wouldn't care, we wouldn't complain about things that aren't as great yet. Thank you for driving these topics :)

Keep up the great work and have a nice day,

Sascha

Hi Sascha,

Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. Your response completely made my day! It feels so nice to know that users like you truly appreciate all that we're working on improving here at InVision.

We really care about all of our users and understand how important it is to address these pain points. Our team will continue to be here to advocate for each of you on these fronts!

Thanks again and have a wonderful day,

Shaina

Hi Jelle,

Thanks for reaching out on our Community!

Currently, it's not possible to password protects a Studio prototype.

I understand how frustrating it is to wait for potential features to be implemented. Our Product and Engineering teams do monitor the interest for these. They prioritize these feature requests based on the scope, cost, and impact of the including these features. For that reason, we don’t have any updates on this, but we are continuing to record and monitor feedback for it.

On that note, I'll be opening a ticket on your behalf to formally capture your interest for this feature request. Please look out for an email from me regarding this.

Thanks, Jelle!

Best,
Raynor
