Flashing Between Screens in a Prototype

Hi all, 

I've been using InVision for a few years now but I'm coming up against an issue that I've experienced before but thought it was a first load issue. 

I'm getting a flash when linking through to another screen in the prototype (which previously was solved, walking through the prototype first to basically cache all the screens first before showing the prototype fully).

In my latest prototype I'm using more a heavy mix of static screens and animated GIFs and the trick of caching before hand doesn't seem to offset the 'flashing' effect of a render. Any suggestions? (This is also happening when moving from static screen to static screen, not just within animated GIFs)

Also happening to me. Chrome on mac. Is there a solution? Can't be that this is happening to so many people and each one has to open a separate case.

Sorry to hear that you're also running into this issue! We appreciate you taking the time to reach out here in Community. We need to address these reports on a case by case basis considering others may encounter this issue due to different circumstances.

In order to get a better idea of why you're seeing this issue, can you please provide the following information?:

  1. A screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview.
  2. The version of Studio that you're using.
  3. Your browser details which you can find here.
  4. If you view the project in a private/incognito window does the flashing issue persist? 
  5. If you're able to do so publicly, would you be able to provide a share link for the affected prototype or a screencast displaying the issue to assist with troubleshooting?

This issue is unbelievably absurd. It has negatively affected my daily design routine for over a year now. Currently changing my entire workflow because Invision will not fix one of the most critical issues with its core product. I suspect they are investing resources onto new and better things. Sad.

Shaina - this is not a serious response if so many people are running into this issue. I also tried on Windows 1- using internet explorer and Edge. Same blinking results. I can't present it to a customer this way. 

I am uploading from sketch. Hotspots done using Craft. 

I did try hotspots in Invision, but got the same result.

Thanks for taking the time to follow up with that additional information. I apologize for the misunderstanding as some previous reports in this thread were in reference to Studio, rather than Craft with Sketch issues that you're encountering. That being said, the source of your issue will be a bit different than some of the reports mentioned above. This is why we need to troubleshoot each user's report on a case by case basis. Although an issue may appear to be the same as others, there are often several different causes.

In order to determine the source of your instance, we will still need some additional information for troubleshooting. Can you please provide the following information as requested above?:

  1. A screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview.
  2. The version of Sketch that you're using.
  3. The version of Craft Manager that you're running.
  4. Your browser details which you can find here.
  5. Have you tried to view the prototype in a private/incognito window? If so, does the flashing issue persist? 

I apologize for the redundancy, but without this information we are unable to connect your experience to any known issues that our Support and Engineering teams are looking into.

Hi Shaina Torgerson.

Since I also stumbled upon this very annoying bug, which actually makes me not wanting to use the dummy (but still might have to), I gathered all these information so the devs hopefully solve this soon. Most interesting info: there seems to be no flashing on Safari.

  5. Have you tried to view the prototype in a private/incognito window? If so, does the flashing issue persist?
    Yes and yes (see screencast). 

    Additional information:
    • Same flashing behavior on Firefox 78.0.2 (64-Bit), default and private window. But only on the first walk-through. Once all screes are loaded there's no flashing. Still not usable in a professional environment, because it should not flash at all (or was it always like this, I think it wasn't).
    • NO Flashing in Safari Version 13.1.2 (15609.3.5.1.3) at all, unfortunately the client who has to use the dummy does not have a Mac…

Thanks so much for taking the time to provide those helpful details and for testing on multiple browsers! I'm sorry to hear that this continues to be a consistent issue for you across multiple browsers and that it's affecting your client's experience with the prototype you've built.

Just to confirm, are you experiencing this issue only with prototypes synced via Craft from Sketch or are you also seeing this with Studio prototypes? Once I have that information, I will get a ticket opened on your behalf with our Support team so they can test directly with your prototype internally.

Hi Shaina Torgerson, thanks for the quick reply.

I'm not using Studio, so this happens with a prototype synced with Craft out of Sketch. Also I just tested making the prototype the "old" way, with uploading the images via drag & drop. With the same outcome as expected (still flashing).

I also have this problem. The prototype was working fine until I duplicated the project to create a night mode for the app. I have tried clearing my cache and opening the project in a different browser but this does not help. 

I use craft to upload to InVision.
