Web and invision studio preview lags a lot

Hi guys,

I was wondering, is the lag in the preview mode in IV Studio normal? what about the lag in the Web Preview link?

I mean, I uploaded the prototype to my projects and then shared the link, but when the link is open, all the prototype is slow and there is a lot of lag in the transitions, clicks... it's impossible to test... it has been tested in the latest version of Safari, Chrome, Firefox..

The same happens with the preview mode in Studio, it lags a lot! it's impossible to check how are the transitions or even record the screen to show it around.

Any hint would be really appreciate.

Besides that, I'm really happy with what you guys have accomplished with this studio! :-)

UPDATE

We are very sorry for the troubles earlier with some elements appearing to "jump" and exhibit a lag when scrolling up and down in Studio's Preview. I’m happy to report that our engineers have identified the source of the issue and have released the fix. I tested here and everything's working correctly once more.

Please give this another try and let us know if you're still having any problems. Otherwise, our sincere apologies for the delay and many thanks for your patience while our Engineering Team worked to fix this issue.

Sorry to hear that you're experience lag when previewing your InVision Studio project. In order to get a more detailed understanding of what might be causing this, I would like for our Support team to take a closer look.

However, before opening a ticket on your behalf with Support, can you please provide screenshots of your Studio version, and "About this Mac" overview?

Hey Shaina, thanks for the quick reply.

Here are the screenshots. I've also tried the link in another two machines, one with Windows10, i7 and 7th generation processor, Nvidia graphic card and 16GB RAM... the same result.. lag in the preview. The other Machine was Linux Ubuntu, i5 7th generation, 8GB ram.. in both laptops we tried the link in Chrome and Firefox.

Has there been any updates on this issue? I have the same exact issue with horrible lag in preview. I have attached my specs below. I am also having a lot of trouble even just scrolling on the preview. However I notice when I connect my mac to an external monitor the preview on that screen runs smoother. Not sure why. Any help would really be appreciated.

I am also having lag issues in both design composition and previewing designs. Lag is most noticeable when previewing transition animations. Is there a performance fix coming soon for this?

I really like Invision Studio and want to use it however these lag issues make the product unusable.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing lag when using Studio on your MacBook Pro. Can you please answer the following questions so we can determine why this might be happening?:

     1. Are you using any external monitors when experiencing lag? If so, what are the specs for that monitor?
     2. Do you have any screencasts of you showing the lag?
     3. Can you send me a copy of this link here: https://www.whatismybrowser.com/
     4. If you are able to do so publicly, can you please post the share link for the project that you are seeing these issues with?

Another thing to note is that to ensure optimal performance, you will want to use Studio on a computer with graphics cards that meet these specifications

     - Intel HD Graphics 5000 and above (found in certain MacBook Air models as early as Mid 2013 and in certain iMac and Mac mini models in 2014)
     - Nvidia GeForce GT 650M and above (found in certain MacBook Pro and iMac models as early as Mid 2012)
     - ATI Radeon HD 4850 and above (found in certain iMac models early as 2009)

The graphics card requirements listed above also apply to using Play mode for Studio prototypes in InVision—whether previewing a Studio prototype uploaded to your InVision account or using a web browser to view a public share link for a Studio prototype.

Hello, 
Have this been solved or is there a work around? Web preview is ultra slow when uploaded via InVision Studio. I had to go back and work on Sketch, then upload it via Craft to InVision and works fine. I had high hopes for InVision Studio. 

Edit: Already tested on different machines and in all browsers. Invision Studio 1.18, working on an iPad prototype.

Seems this issue is still not fixed?

I started to use IV Studio for a new project and wanted to do some small aniamtion/transitions...it lags ,ike hell when I CMD+P (Previewe) the prototype!!!
With lag i mean it displays maybe 4 frames out of a full 1s animation which looks horrible.

Yeah its not the hardware. I'm fairly certain it's an issue with InVision. I'm having the same issue. I was having an issue on my old mac pro (that is still faster than most pro books), so I thought maybe its Safari or maybe its the Mac right? Now I'm on a new HP laptop and yet again seeing the slow down on the shared InVision file. It started ok and then became slower and slower until the animations looked just terrible and I was having trouble hitting hotspots. Sometimes nothing is happening when I click. Terrible.  So then I tried Chrome and it looks like that's all that is being coded for because it was by far the best. I still had some animation lags but it was twenty times better. I do wish the InVision team would support other browsers. I have some trust issues with a company that makes most of their money by getting my information.

I finally found a fix; i switched to Protopie.

Costs only 130euro, has transition animations that DON'T LAG!!!

This seem like it hasn't been solved, I am having issues with the preview, when I scroll it mess-up the layout and I have to resize the window to re-allocate the items to its respective places and the animations doesn't go smooth.

Hello everyone,

There seems to be an ongoing lag issue with the previews, whether it be on a web browser or mobile even with the InVision app - which is surprising (to say the least).

I did share my issue at the link shared by Shaina but wanted to join others here in this discussion thread to stress that the issue is persisting - and has been going on since Aug 2018 (!).

And yes just like most people here, we are up-to-date with both the Studio software and our browsers / mobile OS.

Please please update us on the situation. I am pitching investors and can't reasonably showcase the prototype I build with such lag issues.

This is why I eventually switched over from IVstudio to Protopie.

I have been reporting bugs and laggy behaviour like this since (as you said) early or mid 2018 without avail.

 

They always thank me for helping and then probably drop this bug at the bottom of their backlog. We all probably know how SCRUM works, and my guess is their Product OWner doesn't care about bugs, but cares about features (features = money = clients = profit & bugfixes = time = cost = useless).

They will probably deny this but the proof is in the pudding. a year of reporting the same bug resulted in absolutely no fixes and loads of 'added content/features'.

 

The facts that they, after so many years; cant import sketch files 1:1 (they always say you should use craft and IVS together, but they don't work together!) or that the prototypes we actually make, lag like H3ll on basically any player, is pretty ridiculous.

 

Anyway enough ranting, I will continue to help them by submitting a bug every time I find one, but I lost hope for them actually fixing anything I report.

 

EDIT: I have been reporting bugs from my other account, obviously this is a new account because I now work for another company. Just to be clear ;)

To give you a little insight into our process in tackling issues and feature requests, the Product and Engineering teams prioritize issues based on their scope and impact. For that reason, we are constantly reevaluating these issues given the number of customer reports or requests.

We’re constantly working on improvements, and we really do value the time each of you take to share your feedback. Part of my job is to take important threads from Community to meetings with relevant Product Managers to discuss the struggles our customers are having. I can assure you that I will continue to advocate for you each of you, and share your comments in my next meeting with this the Studio Product Managers.

The Preview on Studio App (Mac OS) lags still. I meant serious lagging. I did not see that coming, but I love the Studio pretty much and not hoping to switch back to anything else if I have the preview working as expected.

Hi Team,

 

I have created a prototype on the studio for windows. I took Art board dimension for iPhone 8 plus on publishing and viewing on my phone which is an android phone Real me the content used to resize to the phone screen. Later on i changes the art-board dimension to Samsung Galaxy S8 and now on publishing and previewing on my phone it doesn't seem to resize as it used to before. 

Also i have some animation in place which are very laggy. I have compressed the images but the problem seems to be persisting

HI Shaina,

I am using mac machine with macOS catalina with 1.28.1 version design studio. whenever I open my design studio my mac performance is very slow not able to work in the design studio.
