    Hi Yurendra and David,

The behavior you are encountering is a known limitation in Studio.  It is currently possible for the users to create interactions for a component, however they are unable to link directly from the elements, or child layers, within a component.

The good news is, however, that our team is currently tracking interest for this behavior. I will open tickets on each of your behalf tracking your votes for this feature. Please look for a message confirming your votes soon.

Have a great day, and thank you for your patience!

    Good Morning,

I've taken a look at your video and have tried to replicate your steps. I have a question out to see if the intended state is to allow interactions to work inside of a component element. This may have something to do with single state allowance on a component. I'll see if some others can chime in here.

    Thanks.

I have the same issue. Please help us because it would enable to do lots of things that are not possible for now.

I definitely would like this feature as well, especially since I like to make top level components, like a navigation for example and not being able to create an interaction with each of the nav items is really frustrating.

I would agree with Matthew, what is the use of making a component like navigation then not being able to make the navigation interactions without breaking away from the component?

It would save a lot of time for me if you implement this feature. Specially this feature is available in Sketch.

    Thank you.

Not being able to add interactions to a component makes it difficult to use invision studio to its full potential. Can you add my vote to this ticket as well? I think this is a huge bottleneck for building and maintaining design systems exclusively inside of invision studio instead of having to use sketch (which is more performant) and adding specific interactions in studio.

I left a comment 5 months ago and it looks like this still hasn't changed. I just want to make sure you know, I've decided to completely stop using InVision Studio and go with Adobe XD because of this issue and the very confusing navigation you guys have set up for moving between layers, art boards, and components. I know I'm just one person but I was really excited about Studio, but alas by not providing such a basic functionality that other prototyping apps offer, Studio is more of an inconvenience to use and gets in my way while trying to build my prototypes while Adobe has greatly improved XD and seems to be far less cumbersome and more intuitive which allows me to quickly build my prototypes without having to do ridiculous workarounds and getting lost in the navigation.

Hi Matthew (and everyone on the thread!),

My name is Eric and I’m a Product Manager on the Studio team. I’m very sorry to hear that this issue has frustrated you for so long. I’m appreciative that you took a moment of your time to post here and let us know how your work is affected. Believe me, it’s something we are working hard to deliver as soon as possible!

By way of providing a little context, let me say that we have been working on a fix for some outstanding issues related to animating components, specifically animating overrides between two artboards. The good news is that we have made some recent progress in this area and we’re in the process of testing some really valuable fixes in the coming weeks. Once we do that, we plan to work on enabling the ability to add interactions to the layers within a component.

I understand it’s hard to hear another “we’re working on it,” but I wanted to personally assure you that this is something we’re focused on right now.

On a related note, I’d love to hear more about how you (and others on this thread!) are using components + interactions, what kinds of expectations you have for how they work together, and what you’d like to see in the future. Thanks for bearing with us while we work to make Studio as useful as possible.

    Hi Eric & Shaina,

I too would like to add my vote for being able to have interaction for elements inside a component - it really is a crucial feature. The other feature is to be able to link to a screen as overlay as you can in the InVision Prototypes. It's infuriating that you can in InVision but not in Studio. In particular I need to be able to open a screen as an overlay and then instruct it to return to previous page (instead of a named page).

I have my frustrations with XD so was really excited to find out about Studio and would love for our agency to adopt it. I'm trying it out on a fairly basic web project but with these interactivity limitations it's not yet fit for purpose. I'm currently having to export as PNG and then upload back into InVision Prototypes to add interactivity manually... old school.

I can't do that on the next project... it's too time-consuming.

Do you have a date for when these features may become available? So I can plan whether to invest more time familiarising the rest of our team with either Studio, Sketch or XD...

    Thanks!

    Hi Niels,

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide your feedback about these desired features in Studio. Our goal is to make every user's experience with Studio as seamless as possible by breaking down barriers in design.

The good news is that we are already tracking interest for both of the features you have mentioned! I will be open a couple of tickets on your behalf to track your vote for each of these features. Please look for a message confirming your votes soon.

Please let me know if there's any other information you would like me to pass along to our Studio Product Team.

    Have a wonderful day,

    Shaina
