Scrolling in Invision Studio - how to set viewport dimensions?

Hello, I'm currently having trouble with the scroll function in InVision studio. Despite setting up my prototype with Scroll: Horizontal, my prototype just won't scroll - when I hit "preview" all I can see is one long, static page. How can I set the viewport dimensions so that I can scroll properly?

When I use the scroll demo everything works as it should, but even there I cannot adjust the viewport dimensions.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Hi Anna,

So sorry to hear that you're running into this issue with horizontal scrolling in Studio. As a first step in troubleshooting, can you please provide the following information?:

     1. Could you please provide a screenshot of your About My Mac "Overview" screen? Click the Apple icon > About This Mac
     2. Could you provide a screenshot showing what’s going wrong?

On a related note, we have recently seen an issue where Studio prototypes are being published at the size which is last selected in Studio Preview mode.

For example, your artboard is 1440px x 1763px.  When previewed in Studio (the play button in the upper right), these are the dimensions that default for the preview window.  Considering they are the same dimensions as the artboard, you cannot scroll.

Then, when you sync your Project to InVision, those same dimensions are defaulting to 1440px x 1763px.  This is the reason you are unable to scroll.

To avoid this until we fix this issue, I would follow the steps below:

     1. In Studio, Preview your Project by clicking the play button in the upper right (Change the dimensions to something other than 1440px x 1763px)
     2. Use the drop-down and set it to the appropriate dimensions
     3. Close the Preview window
     4. Sync to InVision again
     5. This should sync your Project with new dimensions!

Please let me know if you have any other questions, or if the steps above don't apply to the issue you are facing.

Thanks,

Shaina

Hi,
it looks like I am experiencing a similar issue. I  have quite a large prototype of 5000px in height. When I want to make a preview I only see the top part. I can't scroll. When I want to publish it to Invision itself, I also see that same top part of the prototype and can't scroll either.

When I change the size in preview mode to f.e. 5000px, and publish it again, I only see a really tiny prototype, which I don't want to send to the stakeholders.

See attached images... do you have a proper solution for this issue?

Hi Shaina,

Thank you for the quick response. Please find attached the screenshots you requested.

As you can see, I have set up my artboard to have the dimensions 2560 x 2880, with the scrolling set to "vertical".  I followed your steps, hit "Preview", set the dimensions to 2560 x 1440, closed the Preview window and then opened it again. However I still cannot scroll at all, I just see a static screen that doesn't move. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your help,

Anna

I have a problem with the scrolling too. I have also contacted support regarding this matter but I thought I'd see if the community could help.

Everything works fine on my prototype, I designed it using the iPhone XR and have been using the iPhone XR to test it out using the app. Everything works smoothly....

Apart from one single artboard that doesn't scroll, doesn't allow me to click buttons and is frozen in place. My homepage has a height dimension of almost twice the size and works perfectly yet this one is the only screen that won't move or do anything.

I have deleted it, re-made it, copy and pasted it, removed all links and pinned objects. I have grouped things and deleted things and still absolutely nothing. There is also nothing online about "Problems that could cause your scroll to not work: Top 5 things that will make it not work" so that's not good either.

Any help would greatly be appreciated. I won't be sending in pictures or links as I want to keep it private for a business point of view. I'll be happy to give you my email if you want to talk about it further. Cheers
