UPDATE

I have some great news to share with each of you!

We’ve released the newest version of Studio, 1.8.0, which is now compatible with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU. This means that text layers should now be rendering as expected. I apologize for the amount of time it took to get this problem squared away, as our engineering team was working hard to make Studio even better.

To download the new version of Studio, please navigate to the following link: https://www.invisionapp.com/studio

While we believe this issue to be fully resolved, we’d like to ensure that each of you are no longer seeing any trouble on your end with Studio. If you notice any issues at all after updating to Studio 1.8.0, please do not hesitate to follow up and we will be more than happy to take a closer look at the problem you are encountering.

UPDATE

We've recently released a fix in the latest version of Studio for the issue where Studio canvas appears black for some older modals of Mac, our engineering team has been working hard over the last few months to try to address this issue and we're hoping the latest fix should have resolved majority of the display issues in Studio. Please make sure your Studio is updated to version 0.90.54 or you can download the latest version from the link below.

https://projects.invisionapp.com/studio/releases/

With the latest fix, when you open Studio, it will pop up a warning message about the hardware limitation and if you choose to restart Studio, you should be able to use it as expected.

Please note that since this issue is also related to the type of GPUs, it is possible that the latest fix might not work on certain types of GPU, if you notice the issue persists after you upgrade to Studio version 0.90.54, please let us know and we'll continue to investigate it further for you.

Thanks so much for your patience while we worked to resolve this issue, please let us know if you have any questions or if there's anything else that we can assist with.

Best,

Shaina

UPDATE

I just wanted to post a quick update here as some people are still encountering issues. Our Engineering team has been hard at work trying to fix the text rendering problem that occurs in Studio with machines running the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU. We originally received reports of dotted lines or artifacts that surrounded all text layers and some shape layers once the layer was no longer in focus. This particular issue has been resolved.

Unfortunately, our engineers have recently discovered a secondary symptom that is still occurring where text will appear like the example below. The text layer in this screenshot simply contains the word “Test”:

We are still actively investigating this issue and we will be sure to update this thread as we have any additional news on a resolution.

Thank you for your continued patience, and please do let us know if you have any other questions in the meantime!

Hi Andre,

It appears as if most users who are still encountering this issue are using old Macs. So that we can determine what might be going on for you, can you please provide the following information?:

     1. A screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview
     2. A screenshot of the version of Studio you are currently running

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina

Hi Andre,

While we strive to support as many systems as possible for our products, we do have certain system requirements. In order to use Studio, we support specific graphics cards at this time as mentioned in our Help Article, "What are the system requirements for Studio?":

To ensure optimal performance, you will want to use Studio on a computer with graphics cards that meet these specifications:

- Intel HD Graphics 5000 and above (found in certain MacBook Air models as early as Mid 2013 and in certain iMac and Mac mini models in 2014)
- Nvidia GeForce GT 650M and above (found in certain MacBook Pro and iMac models as early as Mid 2012)
- ATI Radeon HD 4850 and above (found in certain iMac models early as 2009)

After reviewing your “About this Mac” overview, I see that you are currently using a computer with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics card. Our Engineering team is aware of an issue where text fails to render properly in Studio on computers with Intel HD Graphics 4000. They are working hard to find a solution to this issue, and I will be sure to update this thread once we have more information.

I will also open a ticket on your behalf with our Support team regarding your comment here in Community, and they will be reaching out. Please look for a message from Support soon. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding. I apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused for you thus far.

Have a wonderful day,

Shaina

Hi Shaina,

I am also using the Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics card.  Is there an estimate release date for a fix?  (So I know whether to move on to another product for now or wait it out.)

Thank you for the regular updates!

Erin

Hi Erin,

I'm sorry to hear that this issue is hindering your workflow! As you've seen in this thread, what you're encountering is a known limitation that our Product and Engineering teams have evaluated based on factors including severity, impact, scale, and frequency. Given the cost required to address this bug, we have decided to allocate our resources to address other issues with a greater impact on our customers, and don't intend to fix this issue in the near future.

However, we will continue to track this issue and monitor the prevalence and severity of the bug, and we will revisit that decision if the circumstances change. That being said, I will be opening a ticket on your behalf with our Support team to add your voice to this issue. Please look for a message from our Support team soon.

I apologize for any inconvenience that this is causing for you in the meantime, and I hope to have good news for you in the future! Please do let us know if you have any questions at all about this. Otherwise, we want to thank you for taking the time to report this issue and the impact that it has had on you.

Take care,

Shaina
