Bug (?) - Fonts not rendering properly in Studio

Fonts don't seem to be rendering properly in Invision (I'm running version 0.10.70)
Is this a bug or am I missing something?

UPDATE

I have some great news to share with each of you! 

We’ve released the newest version of Studio, 1.8.0, which is now compatible with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU. This means that text layers should now be rendering as expected. I apologize for the amount of time it took to get this problem squared away, as our engineering team was working hard to make Studio even better.  

To download the new version of Studio, please navigate to the following link: https://www.invisionapp.com/studio

While we believe this issue to be fully resolved, we’d like to ensure that each of you are no longer seeing any trouble on your end with Studio. If you notice any issues at all after updating to Studio 1.8.0, please do not hesitate to follow up and we will be more than happy to take a closer look at the problem you are encountering.

I am also having issues with the fonts but it is when I am previewing on my iPhone 7+.

Some fonts render properly (e.g. SF Pro) and others dont (e.g. Bebas Neue).

I am also getting weird artifacting happening on the fonts when previewing (see pink circles). I enlarged the font so it's easier to see, but its also on smaller sized text.

As a first step in troubleshooting, can you each please make sure that you are running the newest version of Studio by updating here?

Any updates on this? Still facing the issue on my non-retina Mac having the last version installed. This is actually a blocker to me to consider full migration to Invision Studio.

Hi everyone, 

I've already created a ticket but I want to share my experience here, just in case someone has the same issue. My Studio version is latest 0.92.10, macOS 10.13.3, Mac mini late 2012. I've never used Studio before. When I'm trying to add a text, I can see a normal font rendering while editing, but when I click outside the box, I get what you see at the picture, no matter what font it is. Also, I can't see any image on the canvas. The image layer exists, but the image doesn't display on canvas.

Hi Shaina, 

I have the exact same issue as Dmytro. I used to have some of the problems listed previously but then changed to this new one with the latest two updates.

As it is, its totally impossible to use for any end.

Same issue here, with any font. And not just that; I can't do so much. Even a simple oval is not being display properly. If I import from Sketch is the same result.
I would love to use the app but the only thing I've gotten so far has been frustration.
:(

UPDATE 

I just wanted to post a quick update here as some people are still encountering issues. Our Engineering team has been hard at work trying to fix the text rendering problem that occurs in Studio with machines running the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU. We originally received reports of dotted lines or artifacts that surrounded all text layers and some shape layers once the layer was no longer in focus. This particular issue has been resolved.

Unfortunately, our engineers have recently discovered a secondary symptom that is still occurring where text will appear like the example below. The text layer in this screenshot simply contains the word “Test”:

     1. A screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview
     2. A screenshot of your Studio version details
     3. A screenshot showing the issues you are encountering

While we strive to support as many systems as possible for our products, we do have certain system requirements. In order to use Studio, we support specific graphics cards at this time as mentioned in our Help Article, "What are the system requirements for Studio?":

To ensure optimal performance, you will want to use Studio on a computer with graphics cards that meet these specifications:

- Intel HD Graphics 5000 and above (found in certain MacBook Air models as early as Mid 2013 and in certain iMac and Mac mini models in 2014)
- Nvidia GeForce GT 650M and above (found in certain MacBook Pro and iMac models as early as Mid 2012)
- ATI Radeon HD 4850 and above (found in certain iMac models early as 2009)

After reviewing your “About this Mac” overview, I see that you are currently using a computer with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics card which is not currently supported in Studio. Our Engineering team is aware of an issue where text does not render properly in Studio on Macs with  Intel HD Graphics 4000 and below. They are working hard to find a solution to this issue, and I will be sure to update this thread once we have more information.

Hi Shaina,

I'm having the same issue as others above on a mid 2012 MBP. Studio is currently unusable for me. I was instructed to send the following screenshots to Sandra via Twitter but maybe here in the community is a better place though I will follow up with her shortly. The shop I'm currently employed at is wildly excited about Studio but was bummed to discover this issue as my newer mac is at the Apple Soho store for the keyboard issue a lot of the newer macs exhibit.

I'm happy to see that this issue wasn't the result of Invision deciding to not support older MBP's as that might be a mistake though I don't have industry usage data to support any hypothesis around device support and would hate to exhibit confirmation bias in stating my own reasons why myself and others are using older macs. Let me know if you need any more information from me that might help the engineers in solving this issue. Thanks.

Hello,

Is this still an ongoing issue?

I'm having an issue whereby the font will render correctly when I have it selected. But then once I'm done editing, it will render it as a bold typeface

and I'm running MacOS Mojave 10.14.5
