Vectors Behaving Badly in Studio

So I'm trying to copy and paste some vector artwork, logos, into Studio and am running into issues. Upon pasting, Studio seems to develop a mind of it's own in terms of how it interprets the vector data and things come out looking super wonky.

The top image is what happens when copy/pasting from Illustrator where the bottom is from Sketch - top is pretty obviously wrong, bottom is closer to normal but has some weird things happening in and around the middle of the F, O, and N. It's not just this logo, either, it's happening with a few other logos (but not all) that I'm working with.

I looked at your Studio "getting started" article on the subject of importing content and saw toward that bottom that it recommends saving vector artwork from other apps as an SVG and importing that file. The problem with this "solution" is that I can't import SVGs into Studio via the "Image" tool... they are greyed out in the import dialog box.

Any thoughts?

Edit*

I tried importing using the File>Import option and get similar results as the Illustrator image posted above.

Hello! I have the same problem like everyone in this thread. When is it going to be fixed?

Hi Najib,

We were able to replicate the behavior on our end and I can confirm that this is related to a known issue that we've escalated to our Engineers for further investigating.

In the meantime, we've found that if you first open those files in Sketch and then copy and paste them into Studio, they should appear correctly. I know this is far from ideal, but I wanted to make you aware of any temporary solutions we have while our team continues to troubleshoot.

Hey Najib,

I'm not able to post an ETA, but we have an effort underway to improve SVG import. It would be very helpful if you could add any SVGs you've tried to import in the past that haven't worked or looked wrong after import to the tickets opened on your behalf, or by opening a new ticket with our Support team. We need all the SVGs we can get for testing. Thank you!

Hey Beth, just download any fontawesome icon svg icon and drop it into the studio.

Hi Beth,

This issue still occurs and it's largely for curved SVGs. Do we have an ETA now?

Thanks for reaching out here with those details, and sorry for the frustration that this issue must be causing for you. I can assure you that our Product and Engineering teams are aware of this issue, and are continuing to work to find a solution!

I have raised this issue with the Product Managers on our Studio team, and they agree that this is a very important issue. One of our Studio Product Managers addressed this issue here in another Community thread. She mentioned the following:

| Due to the disruptive nature of these issues, our team has prioritized an effort to improve the overall SVG import and export experience. This will be incrementally delivered over the coming months.

I hope this helps shed some light on the issue for you. I will open a ticket on your behalf with our Support team so that they can notify you as soon as we have any updates on the issue. Please keep an eye out for a message from one of our Support agents.

Thanks for hanging in there, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions.

Have a wonderful day,

Shaina

If anyone else is experiencing this issue, please contact our Support team directly here to report your incident.

Hello all,

Thanks again for providing extensive feedback for our Studio team as they worked to resolve the issues with SVGs. We hope that you are now having a much smoother experience with importing SVGs since Stephanie's update.

To further provide clarity on SVGs for everyone, our documentation team has put together this handy help article. Check it out here: Studio compatibility with imported SVG files.

Please note that this the information provided in this article applied to all SVGs, not just symbols, imported from anywhere. If you continue to run into issues or have any follow up questions, please let us know.

Have a great day!

Shaina
