Craft sync not updating hotspot

Hello,

does anyone having issue since last update to sync the hotspots on a project?

I can sync new hotspot and design changes, but hotspots made previously with an older version on craft disappeared from the prototype.

I already tried to uninstall craft, sketch deleting the related Application support folder too, but nothing. Anyone else had the same issue and maybe solve it?

Thank you,

Valentina

    Hello

I am also having issues since last update to sync the hotspots with Craft.

I am also able to sync hotspot and design changes, but hotspots that have been made previously with the older version of Craft have disappeared from the prototype in Invision.

I have also already tried to uninstall and reinstall craft and sketch as well as deleting and recreating the hotspots. Still nothing.

    Help!

    Thank you,

    Chloe

I just wanted to let you know I actually manage to fix this. You just need to sync all the artboard in the prototype, not just the one you want to upload, for some reason different uploaded version (before and after the update) doesn't recognise each other, and behave like when you upload an artboard with links to a screen not uploaded to the prototype yet (so in other words the links are missing, because where to link to).

Uploading all the artboard again, will fix any connection issue between new and old artboard, also this issue doesn't affect links created directly on the webapp.

I have this problem on and off. I can see that the physical screen will update (i.e., the text or graphics will update), but the hotspot will not come through.

    • I have tried to copy the screen and add that to prototype
    • I have tried to update all the screens.
    • I have updated Craft.

I am running Sketch version 49. Any ideas here? It is almost as if "Sync Hotspots" is unchecked. My older hotspots seem to work, but I cannot get it to make any new hotspots work.

This is pretty frustrating to say the least. And the hotspot is core functionality to prototype. We are relying pretty heavily on Sketch and Invision, and this sort of behavior is not giving me the "warm fuzzies" for consistency and reliability.

    Hi Kevin,

My apologies for the error you're seeing when syncing via Craft Sync. I'd be happy to have a closer look at the trouble you’re having. To help, there are a few questions I have for you:

         - What version of MacOS are you using? (e.g. macOS 10.13.3)
         - What version of the Craft Manager and Craft Sync + Prototype plugin are you using?
         - Lastly, can you confirm if this trouble occurs when syncing with an alternate prototype/source file or when syncing with a different artboard selection?

Once I have those details, I'm happy to take a closer look to help get this syncing trouble sorted!

    Cheers,

    Shaina

    Shaina:

    Here is my information:

    • Mac OS - Sierra, 10.12.6 (16G1212)
    • Craft Manager 1.0.59
    • Craft Sync & Prototype 2.3.66

    - Lastly, can you confirm if this trouble occurs when syncing with an alternate prototype/source file or when syncing with a different artboard selection?

So, this is really the main prototype I am working with now. I created a new one just to test, and I am seeing similar behavior. I can create a link and see it in Sketch, but it does not appear functional in Invision.

One thing that I should mention is that if I use the internal  "Prototyping > Preview Prototype" function, I can see the links and they do work in the current prototype I am having issues with and in the test prototype I just created.

I am also having this problem.

    Sketch 49.3

    Craft 1.0.46

It's really not convenient to re-upload all of my sketch art boards and then delete all the ones I'm not using for this flow so I haven't even tried that.

    Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear that you're also encountering this problem. It appears as if you are on an outdated version of Craft Manager, unless you mis-typed and meant 1.0.64. If you are on Craft Manager 1.0.46, please update to the latest version.

Can you also please confirm what version of the Craft Manager and Craft Sync + Prototype plugin you are using?

NOTE: All of the latest Craft versions are detailed here in our Craft Release Notes.

Look forward to hearing from you,

    Shaina

The plugin is not updating itself apparently?

I downloaded Craft and re-installed.  That didn't work - no change, still on 1.0.46.

So I uninstalled the Craft plugin and then re-installed Craft again.  Still stuck on 1.0.46.

    Suggestions?

    Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear that you are unable to update to the latest version of Craft Manager. As a next step, I'd like to have you perform a comprehensive, deep uninstall/reinstall of Craft using the steps below. Please skip any steps that are not applicable (e.g. if a file/folder mentioned is not present) and let me know if you get stuck anywhere along the way:

    1. Close Craft Manager (by clicking into the "C" > clicking the gear icon > choosing Close).
    2. Go into Sketch, and navigate to Plugins ➝ Manage Plugins.
    3. In the pop-up modal, select Craft by InVision Labs, and click the gear icon in the lower left and select the uninstall option. This will move some items to the trash.
    4. Quit Sketch entirely.
    5. Open the Activity Monitor (via Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor), and then force quit the Craft Manager and Panels (if applicable) processes.
    6. Open Spotlight and search for ~/Library/Application Support/
    7. Delete the com.invisionlabs.CraftManager folder, the com.invisionlabs.CraftManager.json file, the com.invisionlabs.CraftInstaller folder, and the CraftManager folder.
    8. Open the com.bohemiancoding.sketch3 folder.
    9. Delete the Panels folder (if applicable). Please note that these steps will remove any custom Type or Photos items you’ve created in Craft Data. If you'd like to preserve those, please go to ~/Library/Application Support/com.bohemiancoding.sketch3/Panels/.settings and back up the file "com.invisionlabs.data."
    10. Open the Plugins folder.
    11. Delete the Panels.sketchplugin file (if applicable).
    12. Navigate to the Downloads folder.
    13. Search for craftinstaller and delete any files that deal with the Craft Installation process.
    14. In Applications or the folder in which you installed Craft Manager, delete CraftManager.app.
    15. Empty the Trash.
    16. Go to https://craft-assets.invisionapp.com/CraftManager/production/CraftManager.zip and unzip the CraftManager
    17. Drag and drop the Craft Manager app into your computer's "Applications" folder or the folder of your choice before launching it.
    18. Open Craft Manager and then install Craft for Sketch.
    19. If you had backed up the "com.invisionlabs.data" file before performing these steps: launch Sketch now in order to rebuild the ` ~/Library/Application Support/com.bohemiancoding.sketch3/Panels/.settings ` directory. Then, place the backed up "com.invisionlabs.data" file in the ".settings" folder and restart Sketch to restore your custom Type & Photos items.

After going through the steps above, please let me know if you are able to update to Craft Manager 1.0.64.

Look forward to hearing from you,

    Shaina

    Hi Steve,

That truly is odd! I'm sorry to hear that you're still having issues updating to the latest version of Craft Manager.

One thing I would like to note is that above you said:

         | The plugin is not updating itself apparently?

Craft Manager doesn't auto-update like the rest of the Craft Plugins. In order to update Craft Manager you must manually "Check for Updates" by clicking the gear icon, then "Preferences", and "Check for Updates" next to your Craft Manager version number as seen below:

Have you performed these steps? If so, can you please send me a screenshot like the one above, showing your Craft Manager version? Also, if you have and are still unable to update to the latest version of Craft Manager 1.0.64, are you aware of any firewall issues or security settings on your computer that may be blocking your from updating?

One more thing that I wanted to clear up from above was that I had asked:

         | Can you also please confirm what version of the Craft Manager and Craft Sync + Prototype plugin you are using?

However, I never saw you post a version number for this. Can you please check your version numbers using the steps in the link above, and send a screenshot of your version numbers for your Craft plugins?

    Thanks,

    Shaina

This still appears to be an issue. And as mentioned above deleting and re-uploading art boards isn't a great and/or convenient solution. It really messes up our workflow.

Do you have any plans to fix this in the future, as it appears to happen randomly, which is a huge pain to spot when you have prototypes with many boards.

    Thanks,

    Hi Kieron-Scott,

Sorry to hear that you're running into this issue too! This issue was resolved for the other users who reported this issue in the past by updating to the latest versions of Craft. In order to determine what might be causing this issue, can you please provide the following information?:

         1. What version of Craft Manager are you running?
         2. Could you provide a screenshot showing what’s going wrong?
         3. What version of Sketch are you using?
         4. What version of the Craft Sync + Prototype plugin are you running?
         5. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Craft as mentioned above?

One more thing to check is that each of your artboards is named uniquely. If 2 artboards are sharing the same name the second artboard won't upload and that will mess up your hotspots logic too.

Look forward to hearing from you,

    Shaina
