Sketch super slow

Last few days have been super frustrating:

1. Sketch is incredibly slow! I'm now working with a document with only 4 pages, compressed images, plenty of hd memory and yet it still drags along.

2. Exporting links to Nav links Craft to Invision frustrating. Links break or disappear. Change a link in one page? Now I need to update all landing pages that are affected, and links randomly work

3. It hangs on "preparing sync to Invision" processing symbols

Craft up to date.

Sketch up top date

Hi Anne,

Sorry to hear that! Happy to help. As a first step, before sending you over to Support, can you please try a comprehensive, deep uninstall/reinstall of Craft using the steps below. Please skip any steps that are not applicable (e.g. if a file/folder mentioned is not present) and let me know if you get stuck anywhere along the way:

  1. Close Craft Manager (by clicking into the "C" > clicking the gear icon > choosing Close).
  2. Go into Sketch, and navigate to Plugins ➝ Manage Plugins.
  3. In the pop-up modal, select Craft by InVision Labs, and click the gear icon in the lower left and select the uninstall option. This will move some items to the trash.
  4. Quit Sketch entirely.
  5. Open the Activity Monitor (via Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor), and then force quit the Craft Manager and Panels (if applicable) processes.
  6. Open Spotlight and search for ~/Library/Application Support/
  7. Delete the com.invisionlabs.CraftManager folder, the com.invisionlabs.CraftManager.json file, the com.invisionlabs.CraftInstaller folder, and the CraftManager folder.
  8. Open the com.bohemiancoding.sketch3 folder.
  9. Delete the Panels folder (if applicable). Please note that these steps will remove any custom Type or Photos items you’ve created in Craft Data. If you'd like to preserve those, please go to ~/Library/Application Support/com.bohemiancoding.sketch3/Panels/.settings and back up the file "com.invisionlabs.data."
  10. Open the Plugins folder.
  11. Delete the Panels.sketchplugin file (if applicable).
  12. Navigate to the Downloads folder.
  13. Search for craftinstaller and delete any files that deal with the Craft Installation process.
  14. In Applications or the folder in which you installed Craft Manager, delete CraftManager.app.
  15. Empty the Trash.
  16. Go to https://craft-assets.invisionapp.com/CraftManager/production/CraftManager.zip and unzip the CraftManager
  17. Drag and drop the Craft Manager app into your computer's "Applications" folder or the folder of your choice before launching it.
  18. Open Craft Manager and then install Craft for Sketch.
  19. If you had backed up the "com.invisionlabs.data" file before performing these steps: launch Sketch now in order to rebuild the ` ~/Library/Application Support/com.bohemiancoding.sketch3/Panels/.settings ` directory. Then, place the backed up "com.invisionlabs.data" file in the ".settings" folder and restart Sketch to restore your custom Type & Photos items.

If the issue persists, please let me know and I will open a ticket on your behalf!

Thanks,

Shaina

I've been dealign with a similar issue through a Tier 3 support rep. I first reported this on Feb 6th.

To date, I have no solution or updates. The only work around I have at the moment is to turn off hotspots, select whatever it is I want to make a hot spot, then press `C` and select the hotspot target, then hide hotspots. Taking the screenshot below took me a couple tries due to the "hotspot-memory-leak" or whatever it is.

Issues:

1. Sketch locks up when I show hotspots (Blue Lightening Bolt Button)

2. If I have more than 20-30 artboards it becomes unusable

3. I tried making a simple mobile app project and didn't have much of an issue.

4. I've had this problem for the past 2 or 3 versions

5. The latest version did not fix the problem (whatever that update was a day ago)

6. When I upload "selected artboards" sketch locks up completely and displays the "processing symbols" dialog

7. CRAFT seems to be dropping some hot spots randomly. My file size is ~23.3MB with ~130 Artboards across 14 Pages, however, I'm not uploading ALL artboards, only artboards from a couple of the pages.

I just followed the instructions provided in the earlier posts, and it's only slightly better. The issue is still alive and well.

Update

I thought that maybe the number of artboards and subsequent hotspots was the issue. As it seems, that is not the case.

Here I have a 6 artboard, 10 hot spot (6A10HP) project. Very simple right?

On a fresh run of sketch this morning, I got stuck with this screen, again.

After waiting a minute or two, I went to check InVision to see if the screens uploaded… And here is what I see.

it worked! But Sketch+CRAFT are stuck at the processing symbols toast.

I'm happy to report that our engineers have released some changes to the Craft Sync Workflow that also address the problem you've experienced where Craft Sync couldn't handle well certain complex Sketch files and would freeze or crash Sketch during the Sync process.

Please update to the latest version of Craft Manager 1.0.54 and Craft Sync plugin. If you are not seeing the new layout as shown in the screenshot below, please quit and restart Craft Manager.

As mentioned, with the latest version of Craft Manager, we introduced some changes to the Craft Sync publishing workflow. You will still use the Craft Sync plugin from within your Sketch file to start the syncing process, but you will now see the related sync dialogue is located within Craft Manager at the menubar level, outsourced from Sketch.

Please note that larger Sketch files will still take some time to complete syncing and this is expected, but it should not lock up your Sketch file any longer and you can continue working meanwhile.

I want to apologize again for the disruption this issue caused and thank you all for your patience while we worked towards a resolution to this issue.
