CRAFT Prototype tool crashes Sketch and OSX

When:  Using prototype tool to link to a page

Result: Spinning beach ball. Crashes Sketch and causes computer to restart.

I am having the same issue. The problem comes and goes every time I use Craft linking on Sktech.

So far I have uninstalled/reinstalled Sketch and Craft, Created a new user account and fresh installed Craft to Sketch. It is still causing GPU and kernel panics.

I have also had this issue yesterday… complete nightmare. I have disabled Craft and Sketch seems to be OK – but not certain – Craft seems to have corrupted some of my Sketch files. I notice there is an update today which I have run, but I am wary of switching it back on in case more trouble ensues…

I'm having the same problem. I've already reached support multiple times. They're aware of the issue, but they say there's no solution in the horizon.

As a paying costumer I find this extremely disrespectful. It's crazy that I was contemplating using InVision Studio some time ago.

I'll never rely on such company again. I'll go full Sketch Cloud + Zeplin using the native Sketch prototyping feature. Bye, InVision. You're just disrespectful.

My name is Eliot and I'm a Support Manager here at InVision. We’re sorry to hear that you were left with the impression that we weren’t going to resolve this issue and weren’t treating it with the urgency and severity it deserves! We actively investigate every crash report we receive and have already released fixes for a number of bugs that could cause crashing for some users. I reviewed your ticket history and I do see a conversation on February 28th where we mentioned our engineers were looking into the issue, and another on February 2nd where we let you know that an earlier crash bug had been resolved and you’d confirmed it was working once more.

I wasn’t able to find any additional conversations though related to the crashing issues you’ve encountered. Is it possible you reached out under a different email address? If you could share the ticket number of the ticket where you were told there was no solution on the horizon I'd love to review so we can follow up with the staff who helped you. Meanwhile, I can assure you that we’re still actively investigating this issue and are treating it with the urgency it demands.

Eliot, last update on this bug was: "Thanks for following up with this, Bruno! I will pass it along to our engineers, and we will update you via this support ticket once they are able to fix the issue." The ticket number is 332908 and it was created 1 month ago. 

The bug is well known among design community and dates back much longer than that. And it's not small bug. It's a bug that renders Sketch Sync + Prototype unusable. It's a big that crashes the ENTIRE macOS. 

It's jarring that it seems unfixable.

I still can't sync to invision via Sketch – am on the latest update – it just hangs now and never syncs to the invision prototype project. I re-installed as suggested and it worked one time, but next day – again nothing – I don't get the beachball anymore – just the ether of nothingness. I have ended up having to export screens as jpegs/pngs and dragging to invision. I'm on the latest of Craft manager and Sketch.

Thanks for providing that ticket number, Bruno. It’s important to note that the bug in question is actually one of a number of crash/freeze bugs that we’ve been working on and we’ve released fixes for a number of those issues already. This bug unlike those others does sadly remain unresolved due to the uniquely challenging nature of this bug vs. the other relatively simple crash bugs we have fixed. However, we are still very much working on the issue and do still consider it a priority.
