Sketch/Craft Sync Issue | Not All Assets Uploaded. Why?

I have just completed an upload of a large project that I am working on. Much to my shock, after syncing my art boards to InVision with Craft only a small amount of assets actually were uploaded. I even ungrouped everything but still didn't work. In addition, there are files that say "sync in progress". After coming back 12 hours later, they still say "sync in progress". So essentially I would like to know....

1. Why didn't all the assets upload?

2. Why are some files still saying "sync in progress"?

Hi Angie,

Sorry for the issue you’re having with syncing assets. I completely understand the frustration here and apologize for the inconvenience. I can confirm there is an issue that our Engineering team is aware of where assets fail to upload to Inspect consistently. Our Engineering team is currently working on the issue. I will open a ticket on your behalf with our Support team so that they can keep you in the loop as soon as there’s an update on the resolution.

In the meantime, could you please try to copy the individual artboard which include the assets fail to sync to a new sketch file and sync the artboard from the new file to see if the assets sync correctly? Based on our testing, if you move the artboard to a new sketch file and sync from the new file, assets get synced correctly in Inspect.

Apologies for the disruption caused here.

Thanks,

Shaina

If anyone else is experiencing this issue, please contact our Support team directly here to notify them.

Hi Ryan,

I apologize for the inconvenience on this issue and understand that it may be frustrating. In order to get a better idea of why you may be encountering this issue, can you please answer the following questions?:

     1. What operating system are you using? Please include the version (e.g. macOS 10.12.1).

     2. Could you provide a screenshot showing that Sync in Progress state you’re seeing?

     3. What version of Craft Sync are you using?

     4. What version of Sketch are you using?

Look forward to finding a resolution for you!

Best,

Shaina

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for providing that information. It appears as if you may be using an outdated version of Craft Sync. Go here to find which versions of Craft you're using and to check for updates.

Can you please update Craft Sync to the latest version, and report back if that solves your issue?

Thanks,

Shaina

My apologies, following your directions I shows that my current version of Craft is current at 1.0.45.

So, I am having problems even with the current version. :(

I attempted to sync a user interface this morning and the screen uploads, but in the assets page the page/screen titled "voyage" doesn't show up nor any of it's assets even thought all the assets specific names. (saying this because i found that Sketch can't batch export if the asset/layer names are all this same)

Thank you for your help. Our developers are waiting for me to get this resolved. Cheers!

Hi Ryan,

No worries at all. Thank you for checking to see what version of Craft you are using. However, can you please confirm what version of Craft Sync you are using by following the steps in the link of my last post?

Once I have this information, then we can move forward. Sorry for not being more clear the first time.

Thanks!

Shaina

Hi, wanted to see if this has been resolved.

I have no problems syncing from Craft to Invision but we have one screen that is refusing to sync.

I've taken the following steps:

I've deleted half the content from the problem page and it synced with no problem.

I've been adding content back in piece by piece with no issues.

We reach a point where it will do the same thing that Ryan has been dealing with and stop syncing.

There is just a broken image icon.

Could the page be too long, to large or have something in it that is stopping craft and invision from syncing when it works fine when the page is smaller?

Hi Shaina,

We are having this issue as well. It's really frustrating as we are now passing final designs for our sprint onto our devs and are having to export individual assets out because the functionality isn't working. Any updates to this especially as this was raised over a month ago. The entire Enteprise account on our side is having the same problem.

Hi Shaina,

I have the exact same problem too. Almost all of my assets remain at "Sync in progress". I run Craft Manager (DSM) 1.0.48 with Craft Sync 2.3.55, and Sketch 48.2 on a MBP 2017 with Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.3.

I've tried the above suggestions with no luck. Hope you have a fix for this soon.

Thanks,

Viktor

Shaina & Support Team,

It's been 3 months now since I posted about the upload issue with InVision/Sketch sync. You said that the support team was looking into this???

I am now on a new project and it is having the same issue but worse. It is uploading only (1) asset from each page and does not show the picture of the asset (please see attachment )so our developers can use it to build out our apps.

I expected that when we signed up for a paid subscription that we would get a functioning service. Do we need to look elsewhere? I just thought you all were supposed to be leading in this area of service for the design community. This is a major feature that needs to be working properly. I hope you understand the problem.

Please advise as this should have already have been resolved by now.

P.S.- I'm sorry but if you need me to send all my computer specs, etc. I don't have the time unfortunately. :(

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for following up on this issue. I have added your comment to the ticket you have open with Support in regards to this issue. I have notified our Tier 2 Support agent handling your ticket of your comments so that she can follow up with you.

It appears as if the last message sent to you confirmed that there's an issue that our Engineering team is aware of where assets fail to upload to Inspect consistently, our Engineering team is currently working on the issue. As soon as there’s an update on the resolution for this issue, we will send you another email to follow up with you on your ticket.

Also, our Support team requested that you please try to copy the individual artboard which include the assets fail to sync to a new sketch file and sync the artboard from the new file to see if the assets sync correctly in the meantime. Based on our testing, if you move the artboard to a new sketch file and sync from the new file, assets get synced correctly in Inspect.

Please feel free to follow up in your ticket or on this Community thread. Also, keep an eye out from our Support team soon.

Thanks,

Shaina

I work with a large developer from a distance, that doesn't have Sketch and is dependent assets through invision inspect mode.  I have the same problem as mentioned above and your answer is about a month old. As there been any resolve to this, and if not what is the workaround?

I'm having the same issue. I noticed that all my assets which were part of a Symbol were not syncing. If I Detach from Symbol, they sync. Of course, this isn't ideal at all, but seems to work.

Hoping for a fix,

Loren

I had a similar issue, and wanted to post the solution I found, incase it works for anyone else.

Open up your sketch file > select all layers (command + A) > click "make exportable" (bottom right of screen) > save the file and try sync again.

You don't need to do anything else but click "make exportable", don't actually export anything. Just the action of clicking "make exportable" seems to make the assets sync. This method also works on a case by case basis (so you don't have to select all) - it you select one image and click "make exportable", that image will be the one synced to assets.

Hope that helps someone!
