Craft plugin hotspots not syncing consistently

Is anyone else having issues with some hotspots not syncing from Sketch? It seems completely random and inconsistent as to which hotspots sync and which don't sync.

In fact sometimes re-syncing changes which hotspots are synced (sometimes more, sometimes less).

 

This is causing havoc in our prototyping and usability testing workflow at the moment. It forces us to either use add hotspots manually in build mode, and in another case re-prototype in Axure to ensure stability for a particularly sensitive session.

Hello Lachlan and Hemi! Welcome to the InVision Community. Sorry to hear you both are having so much trouble with the consistency of your hotspots when syncing with Prototype and Craft Sync.

To test, could you please confirm that "Include hotspots when syncing" is checked when using Craft Sync and try again? If that's checked and you're still having trouble seeing your hotspot updates after a sync, there might be something else going on.

It appears that this may happen when "Only Selected Artboards" is selected in Craft Sync, even though Include hotspots when syncing is checked. Might these be your settings when this happens, as well?

Having this exact issue and it is starting to worry me a lot.

I wondered if it was due to the size of the prototype? is there a limit on hotspots?
Maybe just a connection error to the servers? i dunno

My current workaround is to completely remove the prototype from invision and resync it again as a new project and not click sketch as it syncs :P

Seems to work on a fresh sync

I can confirm that I have the 'Include Hotspots When Syncing' checkbox selected. I can also confirm that I am only syncing selected art boards. With large projects it's a bit of a pain to sync all art boards with any change, especially when testing and troubleshooting a prototype. But if it's a suitable workaround it may be worth it.

I can also report that after a sync (with inconsistent hotspots) yesterday evening, leaving the prototype overnight seems to have solved the issue. I arrived at work this morning and all hotspots are now working as expected. Perhaps there's a lag? This might also explain how sometimes the first click on a screen will highlight all hotspots while subsequent clicks only highlight some. Perhaps it's still processing.

Happy to help, Lachlan! I'm glad that you can sync all artboards as a workaround, however, this certainly should be working when selecting certain artboards.

I have the same Problem. I had to restart Sketch and then the hotspots got synced again. But I tried it 3 times without restarting and the hotspots never got synced.
There is also a problem with the Sync function in Craft and Artboard-Background-Colors as symbols. The colors get changed every time I sync my project.

This is such a pain. Any news on an updated release? It seems to happen randomly to me so I have to sync all 40 artboards every time I want to push a change.

Just saw that a previous comment mentioned the size of the file - I think this might have something to do with it as I only ever have problems when working with large files (40 dartboards + sort of big). Hope this helps

I'm having similar issues on my end. A 5 screen, approximately 35 hotspot page in sketch only successfully synced after I ensured I didn't touch my computer / Sketch after clicking sync, and giving it a few minutes to be rendered on InvisionApp. This was after multiple partial syncs in the previous week. 

A separate, 48 screen, ~385 hotspot page in Sketch does not succeed in syncing over a 1/4 of the hotspots I would expect it to. :( Hopefully this can be resolved soon! I will try partially syncing 10 screens at a time on this page to see if that works next...

Hi 

I am also having this problem, and its stopping me from being able to safely share the design with my team.

I have tried removing all the art-boards from invasion and re-upload, I have synced from sketch with the "include hotspots" option turned off and then turn it back on again and re-sync

the issue being it just seems to be random, one link might fail one upload and another the next, so I have to retest the entire flow on every update and then hope it works on the next sync

 

I have 13 (maybe unlucky) artboards, and maybe 20 hotspots, so nothing too large, let me know if you need any more info!

I've been having the same problem, and it's become more extreme over the past few weeks.  It seems to happen more frequently when I sync just select artboards (vs everything), but it's hard to confirm exactly how much worse it is.  Basically I don't know if a hotspot will be available/appear until I open the pages in the web or app view.

So to confirm, the Craft sync capability has become completely unstable/unreliable when it comes to hotspots, which basically makes Craft useless.  So frustrating, I had the same issues with syncing from various third party cloud storage providers to Invision (anyone who wasn't Dropbox basically).  Deja vu...

You guys need to escalate the fix for this... Craft has become the bread and butter reason for using Invision, and if it can't be relied upon I and my teams are going to have to find an alternative solution.

Hey Elizabeth, I have the same issue. I have 43 pages prototype with lots of hotspots in there. I spend all day trying to sync my prototype as a new project, with different account, recreating hotspots again, but nothing worked. My hotspots sometimes syncs or maybe not. Sometimes in invision hotspots appears and despairs. I want to know if it your priority of this problem, because I have usability testing this week and really sort deadline.

I also opened a ticked, I think people need to know that their are not alone so I decided to leave a post here too.
