Screen As Overlay Too Big

Hey Y'all

I'm having an issue trying to link to screens as overlays.  Every time I link to a screen, it shows up very large, and zoomed in.

So big you cant even see most of the screen.  The screens I'm trying to link to are the same size as the other ones, and show up fine when not being linked to as an overlay. Can y'al help?

I appreciate anyones efforts! Thanks!

Welcome to the Community, Cary! That kind of behavior can happen if you've accidentally made the screen that's an overlay larger than the original screen that triggered the overlay. You'd mentioned you checked the sizes, but it's possible that you're exporting/syncing at a larger size than you realized. Because we always scale a screen down to device width on a mobile prototype when not in an overlay, a 720px wide screen and a 360px screen will appear the same width when viewing normally in your prototype.

I'd make sure that the "Filter" screen is the same size as the overlay being triggered and not accidentally 360px wide.

If that doesn't do the trick just let us know. Cheers!

Hey Sean,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

So I'm syncing the screens from Sketch, and all the art boards I'm syncing are 360px.  After reading your reply, I made one art board 180X320 instead of 360X640, and when I linked to that as an overlay, it expanded out and looked good.

^^The 180X320 screen above

Pretty weird. You have any other ideas?

The fact that did the trick is good, as it confirms it's a size mismatch issue. If you're exporting images directly from Sketch or uploading a Sketch file to our servers, the actual size of the artboard is less important than any export modes that might be defined on those artboards. If you select each artboard in Sketch and then look at the bottom, are they all the same size there? If some are @1x and some @2x or if some have a manual size override there and others don't, that'd be the most likely cause.

See below for the setting I'm talking about:

Sorry to hear it! Unfortunately, that means there's something else causing the size not to match. I'm going to open a Support ticket for you so we can dig in deeper.

Hi Nikolaos,

Thanks for reaching out here in Community. Sorry to hear that you're running into a similar issue as what Cary reported above. This issue was solved for Cary after resyncing her screens.

Since this issue was reported quite a while back, a lot has since changed with Craft. To get a better idea of what might be causing this issue for you, can you please provide some additional information?:

  1. A screenshot of your "About this Mac" overview
  2. The version of Craft Manager that you're running. To check the current production version numbers and for help updating or finding the Craft tool versions you have installed, please read this guide.
  3. The version of Sketch that you're using.
  4. A screencast or screenshot(s) displaying the issue you're running into.
  5. Can you also confirm exactly how you're getting the screens into InVision? I'd like to confirm whether you're syncing using Craft Sync or by syncing the Sketch file itself.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Shaina
