The Trello add-on for Freehand helps you run more inclusive and collaborative planning sessions and manage projects across your organization. Import existing Trello cards into Freehand, create new Trello cards from Freehand, and convert sticky notes and cards.
Set up the Trello add-on
The first time you use the Trello add-on, you have to connect it to your Trello account.
- Sign in to InVision and open your freehand.
- On the bottom toolbar, select ••• More tools > Trello. The Trello modal opens.
- Select Authorize. A new window opens.
- Sign in to your Trello account.
- Select Allow.
You'll now select your Trello workspace and board.
- Select the Workspace dropdown and choose your workspace.
- Select the Board dropdown and choose your board.
- Select Continue. All the items in your chosen board appear in the Trello modal.
Import Trello cards into Freehand
Once you've set up the Trello add-on, you can import existing Trello cards into your freehands.
- On the bottom toolbar, select ••• More tools > Trello. The Trello modal appears.
- Search or scroll through the list.
- Select the card or cards you want to add.
- Select Import item from Trello. The Trello cards appear on the canvas.
To open a card in Trello, select the Trello logo in the bottom right of the card.
Create Trello cards from Freehand
When sprint planning or handing off projects to another team, it's important to connect the work to your existing epics, and track the project in Trello. With the Trello add-on, create new cards from Freehand so everyone sees what they need, where they need to see it.
- In the toolbar, select
Trello. The Trello add-on opens.
- Select Create Trello card and complete the fields.
- Review the selected workspace and board. If you wish to change either, do so now.
- Select the List dropdown and choose a list.
- Select Continue.
- Complete the fields.
- Select Create.
The new Asana task appears on the canvas. To open the task in Asana, select the Asana logo in the bottom right of the card.
In Asana, the task includes a link to the freehand.
Convert sticky notes and cards into Trello cards
After a brainstorming or feedback session, your freehand is probably full of sticky notes and cards. Get these items into Trello by converting them to Trello cards.
- Select a sticky note or a card in your freehand. A contextual menu opens above the item.
- Select the sticky note or card icon and select
Convert to Trello. The Trello modal appears.
- Review the selected workspace and board. If you wish to change either, do so now.
- Select the List dropdown and choose a list.
- Select Continue.
- Complete the remaining fields if desired. The summary field auto fills with the text from the card or sticky note.
- Select Create Card.
The sticky note or card is now a Trello card. Any changes you make to the card in Trello update in Freehand.
To open the card in Trello, select the Trello logo in the bottom right of the card.
Switch to a different workspace and board
Every time you open the Trello add-on, it defaults to the workspace and board you last chose. You can switch the workspace and board at any time.
To switch to a different workspace and board:
- In the Trello add-on modal, next to the current board name, select Change.
- Select a new workspace and board.
- Select Continue.
