Article Summary

With the Embed tool, you can add different types of content to your freehand to share all the resources and context your team needs. To access the Embed tool, in the toolbar, select Upload > Embed, or press D.

Embed content

To embed content, first copy the URL of what you wish to embed.

Note

Some content may require using its share link, or a specific embed link.

  1. Copy the link, embed code, or iframe code for the content you wish to embed.
  2. In Freehand, select image Upload > Embed.
  3. Paste the link, embed code, or iframe code.
  4. Select Embed.

The content appears on the canvas in an iframe. You can resize and move the frame around the canvas.

Unsupported content appears as a link card.

Supported content for embeds includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Adobe XD
  • Airtable
  • Canva
  • Coda
  • Confluence Cloud
  • Figma
  • Google, including Docs, Slides, Sheets, Calendar, and Maps
  • Loom
  • Maze
  • Microsoft 365
  • Mode

Permissions for embedded content

Here are a few things to note regarding embedding content in Freehand:

  • The Embed tool allows you to embed a document within Freehand based on the URL you paste. InVision doesn't have access to the data contained in your embedded objects, and the embedded objects don't have access to InVision data.
  • Embedding a URL doesn't allow you to bypass your company’s content and network controls. For instance, if your company’s network blocks you from visiting sites like YouTube, Vimeo, or Mode, you will likewise not be able to view the embedded objects in Freehand.
  • Permissions and controls for the embedded URL need to be managed outside InVision, since InVision doesn’t have access to them. For instance, if you embed a private Google calendar in your freehand, freehand viewers won't be able to view the embedded calendar unless they’re logged into their Google account and have permission to view it.
