What’s fixed or improved?
The Craft updates released on January 25th brought Craft Sync up to speed so you can publish your designs to InVision from the latest Mac machines, and it fixes an issue with the Craft Freehand plugin:
-
Support for Apple M1 processors: Craft now performs as expected if you're using one of the new Mac models that are stocked with the Apple M1 processor—MacBook Air (M1, 2020), Mac mini (M1, 2020), or the MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020).
This fix for Craft Sync is one aspect of our current push to correct the compatibility issues that are preventing other Craft plugins—including DSM and Craft Freehand—from functioning properly on machines with the M1 processor. -
Craft Freehand error: You should no longer encounter an error when you click the Freehand plugin icon (
) in the plugin panel (unless your machine has the new Apple M1 processor, as mentioned above).

What's new or improved in the new DSM?
If you're using the new DSM plugin (version 1.0.7), it became a whole lot easier to update your design system settings in the DSM web view during January, including a new visibility setting for DSM Enterprise organizations:
- Primary navigation customization: Available on both the DSM Free and DSM Enterprise plans, now you can customize the links in your primary navigation for design systems in the DSM web view. With numerous options for nav bar, you can guide your collaborators to most useful sections of your documentation:
- Add new or existing sections
- Rename section links
- Reorder section links
- Delete section links—excluding default sections
- New, easy-access settings page: With numerous important settings options now available, you'll be happy to know that we've created a new settings hub so you can configure multiple settings in one place. To access the following settings, open your design system in the DSM web view, click the settings icon (
), and select Settings:
- System settings: Configure your general design system settings and draft visibility.
- Customization: Configure your design system settings for top navigation, component tab order, theme, and logo.
- Foundation fonts: Configure settings for fonts that have been added to the design system.
Previously, this setting was called the Font manager.
- Design system draft visibility: Now your DSM Enterprise admin can restrict visibility of your design system draft to prevent anyone with the viewer role (for the system) from seeing elements that aren't ready for release. Read the details.
- Update proxy credentials: If your IT team has implemented a proxy server but your credentials aren't saved on your machine, now you can easily authenticate (and save your credentials to your macOS Keychain, if wanted) right from the new DSM plugin in Sketch. Read the details.
- Design enhancements: You may notice the minor look and feel enhancements we've made to the new DSM plugin and web view.
Current versions
Here are the version numbers for each DSM plugin at the time of publication:
- New Design System Manager: version 1.0.7
- Legacy Design System Manager: version 1.1.42
Freehand
Check out the newest additions to Freehand below, or see all our Freehand updates and fixes here: Release Notes: Freehand
What's fixed in Freehand?
Updates released during January address Freehand troubles in Safari as well as an unshapely issue that had been affecting squares and rectangles in all browsers:
- Improvements for Safari users: If you're a Safari user, you may have previously run into a couple of bugs that have been corrected:
- Blurry text: Text should now be nice and clear in Freehand on Safari.
- Opening a freehand document: Now you won't run into a showstopper when opening a freehand in Safari, as we've fixed the bug that was causing Mac to freeze and/or crash.
- The right angle: When using the Shape tool to add a square or rectangle, now the angle of the top-right corner will match the other corners. Previously, a bug was causing a slight bulge that left the top-right corner slightly curved.
InVision security
What's improved or fixed?
These platform updates were made during January:
- Platform stability and security: To maintain and continually improve the stability and security of InVision, we implemented additional security measures.
InVision V6
What's new or improved in InVision V6?
You may have noticed a couple of solid improvements for InVision V6 during January:
- Export prototype comments: In addition to V6 Enterprise users (excluding guests), now prototype owners on any V6 plan can export prototype comments. Read the details.
- Preview archived screens: If you've previously archived a prototype screen that you may need to restore, now you can easily preview a larger image to confirm that it's the right screen before clicking Unarchive.
InVision V7
The following release notes apply to InVision V7 only; these do not apply to InVision V6.
What's fixed or improved in V7?
The following InVision V7 enhancements and bug fixes were released during January:
-
Sharing permissions: You can now create public share links and export prototypes you have permissions to view, comment on, and inspect, even if you don’t have permissions to edit the prototypes.
-
Anyone with the link: If the access permissions for a given prototype are set to Anyone with the link, you can once again open the prototype without the need to sign in, now that the bug prompting authentication was resolved.
-
Overlay hotspots: You should now be able to consistently trigger overlay hotspots by clicking them, as the bug causing them to fail to respond has been fixed.
-
Performance improvements: You should experience faster transitions between screens when viewing large prototypes. And stay tuned for more performance improvements that are currently in the works.
-
Selecting multiple screens: You should once again be able to consistently multi-select screens in your prototype using drag select or by checking off each screen; previously, there was a bug that sometimes prevented selecting multiple screens until the page was refreshed.
-
Choosing prototype background color: You should now see consistent color swatches for background color selection between mobile and desktop prototypes, as you’d expect.
-
Last updated timestamp: You will now see the timestamp on the screen remain unchanged after sorting screens, as an unintended change causing timestamps to update in this situation was reverted.
